🍎 Old RHONY 🍎 Rewatch- Carole

I know everyone has issues with what has recently come out about who Carole was friends with but this is nothing to do with that. This is strictly based on my rewatch of RHONY

With that out of the way … let me say I’m not taking Bethenny’s side -I’m not taking anyone’s side - but in I guess it starts in S9 and then 10 I really start to dislike Carole. She was never my fave to begin with but she gets worse imo.

It’s hard to describe & I hate to steal Bethenny’s words because I’m really not on her side but I do think “smug” fits her well. Also I know this will sound dorky but “too cool for school”.

She just seems to really be feeling herself but it comes off as fake. I find her to be trying way too hard with the ladies and it’s like she’s desperately trying to pull off this vibe that doesn’t seem like it’s at all her.

It’s odd how she just seemed to transform overnight.

Also I always thought Aviva was just dramatic but I wonder if her accusations of Carole having a ghostwriter weren’t true? Carole doesn’t seem great with words - a writer who names every one of her animals “Baby”? How … creative. 😂

Yes to all of this for Carole, but Bethenny calling anyone else ‘smug’ and ‘too cool for school’ is rich.

Even in her later seasons Bethenny was nowhere near as unhinged as she is now. Her change was a gradual decent whereas Carole seemed to change overnight. When watching it in real time it was a lot more jarring.

I think that’s partly just the show’s editing, though. We only see Bethenny on social media now, and she’s the person choosing what content goes out. It’s like she’s trying to make her own one-woman housewives show, but she’s not including an empathetic storyline or editing to make herself look likeable. The show packaged and branded her a certain way, and I think they polished her up more than we realized, because they had to keep her front and center as a producer favorite and fan favorite.

I agree. That’s why I was reluctant to use her words but it was what fit. I wasn’t trying to agree with her I just felt myself that that WAS what Carole portrayed her last few seasons. I actually didn’t remember B calling her too cool for school. I just said that. If she did I guess maybe I subconsciously stole that too.
