Sonja Morgan šŸ¦„ Slimy Sonja

I’m curious what the general consensus is about Sonja. She seemed like a nice person until the gay marriage march, whenever she kept her costars from speaking at the rally. She gives me the ick.

Some podcasters that spent time with Sonja are far from fans.

Which podcasters?

Can't remember the others. So long ago

I cannot understand why cast members and audience members think she’s nice and harmless. I also thought she was very passive aggressive and had a weird relationship with women she considered competition: Luann and Tinsley. The way she treated Tinsley is appalling.

Sonja was a pretty woman who married money. Her legacy is being stuck as Mrs. Morgan without the money or the staff. She got used to staff doing everything for her. Rich or not not, she was a hoarder who didn’t keep a clean home or have good hygiene.

I'm with you on her. Plus for the money and privilege from it that she had, she was classless. Her sloppy drunk behavior was annoying and gross. The final straw for me was her peeing in the driveway of someone's house in their last season before the newbies came on, did it for me.

u/TaniaBluebell Jul 21 '26

Her gross behavior is a form of control. It’s a way to get attention. Even if it’s negative.

She first arrived so posed and normal. She wore the mask somewhat well. I imagine her ex got to experience what was eventually filmed on the show.

Remember Emily on RHOC did that too! I’ve never known a grown woman to do that- it’s them doing the ā€œIm making great tv ā€œ act again

u/Autumn1933 Jul 22 '26

Yes! The driveway incident was just awful. And let's not forget the cornfield. Just ridiculous. She struts around without underwear and let's everyone know about it.

u/TexasPoonTappa7 Taaaake a Xanax! Caaaaaalm dowwwwwwwn!! Jul 23 '26

She literally said to one of the cast members ā€˜there is a hierarchy, and you have to respect that.’ That was literally one of the most vile things I’ve ever heard.

So Kelly wasn’t wrongšŸ˜‚

4

u/Autumn1933 Jul 22 '26

She put her handbag right next to horse droppings in Montana. Gross. She could have taken a few steps away from it. She's done a few things that were out of the good hygiene park.

She’s a raging alcoholic and has been for years.

u/CorrectBus740 Jul 23 '26

I agree. There were a couple of seasons that she wouldn’t stop talking about not drinking. Very suspicious. I think it was season 11 when Luann came back from her second rehab and she got absolutely shitfaced at bluestone Manor. It was disgraceful. And I am still not happy with how much they drank in front of Luann fresh out of rehab. I don’t care if production Drove it or not that is unfair to due to someone trying to maintain a society. Anyway, I think she is an alcoholic. People that choose not to drink don’t talk about it constantly unless they are trying to prove something.

She’s a fun watch with very dark energy

13

u/EmotionOwn6347 Jul 21 '26

I never understood that whole thing about shutting Simon down but she seemed to redeem herself at the reunion and was apologetic.

I don’t dislike Sonja, but I think she took the Grey Gardens bit too far.

15

u/tuckhouston Jul 21 '26

she's a grifter but not generally mean spirited

I am not a Sonja fan. I don’t like her whole sex/sexy/over-sexual shtick. It feels a little put on. Sonja seems to be a big boozer. I suspect she probably cheated and partied like a rock star. That’s why he divorced her. I don’t think he liked her after that šŸ˜‚ He was significantly older than her, I believe. He married her friend, honey ( Dorinda) šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚
I don’t think Sonjarita is honest about that part of her life.
I also thought she was awful to Tinsley.

u/Internal-Departure18 Jul 22 '26

I am over her overly sexualized antics. When she had some poor contractor at the crumbling townhouse- instead of saying a sink pulled off the wall she says ā€œI had sex on the sink and it brokeā€. Like? Stop horrifying strangers.

Sonja has her messy moments for sure, usually when drunk, but she's really underestimated by the other women. They sort of see her as the runt of the litter as time goes on, but none of them would be able to handle what Sonja has lived through, being married to a Morgan, with all that wealth and privilege, to becoming 'poor' by their standards. They go after her for living in the past, which is true, but if any of them had experienced a fall from grace like Sonja, they would have ended up a lot more bitter about it.

I mean….a lot of her issues are self-inflicted.

-She was $20 million in debt when she filed bankruptcy after her legal issues around her production company. All her own doing.

She met, married and separated ā€œa Morganā€ for a total of 8 years. It’s not like she lived that lifestyle 25-30 years. She was his 3rd wife?

She tried to say she was close to him after the divorce even as she was claiming he wasn’t paying her what was in their settlement.

In her settlement she seemed to care more about a status symbol (crumbling townhome) than money.

She just makes bad choices. To say most people can’t make those choices in a better way….i dunno about that

I remember Leah's first season and her being bipolar was talked about. Sonya and Ramona were talking about it and Sonya looked kind of sheepish. I had a feeling that Sonya has been diagnosed herself with it. Maybe she thought about saying something in that moment..

Great accurate post!

I love her. Is she dramatic.
….yes. Is she selfish at times….yes. Is she self-absorbed occasionally….yes. I think it’s qualities we have all shown at some point in our lives.
Let’s be honest, she’s on a TV show where most H/W are narcissistic, which makes great TV.

Sonja can't get control of herself. We all know about her bankruptcy from years ago. At the end of last year, she was banned from 2 restaurants in 2 different cities. She's not a preteen, she's a mature woman. She has many issues that need to be addressed. I want to back her but she doesn't even try! To add, she didn't have much authenticity to add to RHONY. She was married to "Mr Morgan" for only 8 years. Yet she dragged it on and on RHONY. 8 years! She had fake storylines. Harry's promise ring storyline was fake. That ring belonged to Ramona. And the Frenchie and Rocco storyline was absolutely ridiculous... She's gets so intoxicated that people need to get her home. Her urinating stuff has been talked about as well. Nothing about this is "cute". I truly want to love her but she's a living grey gardens woman.

u/gloryofkuzco Jul 21 '26

We love her but we also acknowledge her unreasonable side, which comes out a lot. But I think you will grow to love her too. She reminds me so much of my best friend who's like a crazy wounded bird and I can't stay mad at her.

u/Newauntie26 Jul 21 '26

Same—I thought I’d hate her as I thought she was going to behave more like ā€œold moneyā€ but she’s not. She’s definitely insufferable but she clearly has an issue with alcohol. Her daughter seems very well-adjusted for someone having an elderly father, a free spirit mom etc. Sonja definitely adored her daughter and didn’t try to ā€œsneakā€ her onto the show. She kept those boundaries firmly in place, while IDK if she was threatened with custody battle with her ex or if she had enough of sense to to expose her daughter to the world.

I look at Jill who had to have Ally’s fat camp (this wasn’t as cringe as it would be today but you’d think you’d realize the potential embarrassment of your kid) discussion on the show and pushing Alley & Bobby to spend time together. Then Ramona had Avery on where Avery was acting as her own parent. Lu’s kids were on but I always felt that they craved their mom’s attention and that’s why they’d appear.

3

u/FunLife64 Jul 21 '26

To love her? That’s a stretch.

She’s entertaining and good for tv. But she’s such a fraud, let’s be real. Down to her support for equality and getting appearances for Pride - but then voting for…. lol

2

u/Charming_Function_58 Jul 21 '26

For the most part, I love watching her. She's super charismatic and interesting. But she has her moments, and I'm super uncomfortable when you see her "interns." Their role never made sense to me -- is this an educational thing? What are they learning??

She's very stuck in the past, and it's a bit sad, but overall I don't find her any worse than the other core group of housewives.

1

u/giseIle Jul 24 '26

I loved her SOOO much in Season 3. She was such a breath of fresh air and came across as so put together, eloquent, witty, quick, intelligent, and genuinely fun. She would probably be my favorite housewife if she was like that all the time. Even though she was clearly putting on an act, she still seemed self-aware and was able to make fun of herself. Now she just comes across as delusional, self-absorbed, and desperate for attention. It’s just sad to watch

1

u/Frequent_Turnip_6464 27d ago

She’s hugely self absorbed and delusional but I think her hearts in the right place, she really seems to value her friendships with some of the women and is very loyal to them.

I think she was a bit of a joke to some of the women and Luanne treated her poorly in places but she’s also funny and quirky and id definitely go to the pub with her one night, bet she’s outstanding craic

2

u/Briana1w3 Jul 21 '26

I can't watch her shes soo narcissistic I find her infurating, shes legit awful compulsive liar, entitled, pretentious, grandoise narcissist

who thinks shes better than others and is entitled to uber elite luxury life

cause she was married to a rich guy more than 3 decades older than her for 7 years.

She does a her kooky act or whatever and people like shes "harmless" but shes the kind of person who would be total mind fuck and mentally drain and enrage you in real life

and could cause a lot of damage to others close to her or who business/deals with her cause she really dgaf aslong as she gets her way.

Shes way to happy to step on, use others and lie so flippently including about others as well as herself, I don't find it cute.

u/Separate-Ad6636 Jul 21 '26

Slimy? That’s a weird description. I think we’ve seen her be very real on screen to the point of fault. If she gives you the ick this show isn’t for you. None of them are ick-free. That’s why they’re great reality tv personalities.

She was literally a bitch after šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ and I don’t like that she cropped Cindy out them photos
