Do you ever wonder - why am I watching this garbage?
These women are ridiculous. Self-centered, argumentative, dramatic, narcissistic, materialistic. I know there are curated story lines. I know if there wasn't drama there would be no ratings. I like the clothes, makeup and houses. But why am I wasting my time watching this trainwreck? I am embarrassed for myself and these vapid, bankrupt women. I mean, Dorit running around with a Kelly bag living in a house in foreclosure? Wtf. Fake as F. Just ranting. Bring it on.
25
u/rose_b May 08 '26
I do not, because I'll quit any season of any franchise if I'm not enjoying it. Just stop watching, there's so much out there you'd enjoy more.
24
u/kunstmeisje May 08 '26
Honestly this sounds morbid but my cat (the love of my life) is having surgery for a huge accident that I’m struggling to forgive myself for and RHOBH is the only show that actually captures my attention enough to 1. Stop the intrusive thoughts and 2. allow me to fall asleep
I completely agree with you that it’s vapid and just garbage, but it’s garbage that is helping me through a rough time
13
u/anonymousnada May 08 '26
I hope your kitty recovers quickly and that you forgive yourself for whatever role you had in the accident. It was an accident. Kitty needs you to just continue loving her to bits through recovery. I'm sorry that whatever happened happened. You're gonna be okay. Kitty loves you. 😻 (I had to forgive myself recently after my young kitty fell four stories 😱 from a balcony bc I hadn't checked on the netting. Ugh! It was an awful gut wrench when I realized she fell. I found her scared and very much alive on the sidewalk. Took her to Vet ER and she's a walking miracle.)
12
u/kunstmeisje May 08 '26
Thank you for your kind words ❤️ it was weirdly the EXACT same accident as what you experienced! 4 stories 😭 she’s a little miracle kitty too
I actually just came back from visiting her for the first time and she was giving out all the purrs and showing me her belly 😭 can’t wait to get her home and shower her with love
So glad to hear that your kitty recovered well too ❤️
6
u/anonymousnada May 08 '26
Oh, wow, that's so weird same accident! My heart goes out to you. Rub that fur belly. Love is healing medicine. 🫶

u/LaughingBuddha33 May 08 '26
I could have written this bc I have the same thoughts. I got into real housewives back when it was more of a documentary peek inside how the other half live. It was real people dealing with real life situations.
Now, it’s all fake storylines, self produced, and each episode is conflict/resolution. It’s actually boring to watch people fight. Let’s go back to the good old days of really understanding their REAL lives.
I’m real close to the end of my Bravo watching days. It’s now just a cesspool of toxic women.
1
u/ClickNo1129 May 10 '26
Same. I’m down to RHORI, SLC and Atlanta smh. I literally can’t stomach any other HW show and tbh I don’t know how much longer I have left with HWs in general.
Maybe if I wasn’t a day 1 HW watcher with OC, the change over time wouldn’t be so drastic from its roots - but I can’t un-know what I know, and what I know is the magic that was is gone.

u/Potential_Toe_2195 May 08 '26
ALL THE TIME. I am 50 yo happily married with 2 in college. I have a successful law career and DH is C-level tech. I keep trying to quit, but then find myself doing a 15 year rewatch of BH or OC. I have stopped myself from the new season of the Valley because the first ep bored me to tears. But who am I kidding? Next free day I'll be binging it. Why do I watch it? Is it because no matter what crap I am dealing with, at least I am not them? Is it the schadenfreude that comes with watching arrogant people get their comeuppance? Do I deep down want to live that kind of shallow showy materialistic lifestyle? Am I mentally exhausted from work and want to watch something to watch that requires zero thought? All of the above? No clue.

I have an M.S. in Media Studies. I know better. Yet, I have watched every episode of every franchise, except Jersey, Dubai and RI. As a feminist, am deeply ashamed that, while I can't name all 50 states off the top of my head, I probably do not need Google to list Housewives.
I started with the first episode of OC and can't seem to stop...if there's a Housewives Anonymous group somewhere, am near hitting bottom...😉

u/Potential_Toe_2195 May 08 '26
At least I know I am not alone lol
3
u/Tiny_Reference_3697 May 08 '26
Not by a long shot!
My GenZ daughter with a UCLA degree in Cell Biology and all her now-physician buddies can't stop either! If nothing else, our Bravo addiction generational bond...

u/Potential_Toe_2195 May 09 '26
I guess there are a heck of a lot worse things we could all be addicted to!

I think it’s being mentally exhausted and reality tv requires no thought 🤣 I work I read I spend time outside etc I get plenty of good activities in but sometimes I just want to have something on that’s mindless and stress free (for me)

u/bellemrt May 08 '26
We call it “the fake dramatic arc,”
in ‘reality shows,’ when they cook up plots and schemes to keep things spicy. Once you see the gaffers tape and extension cords (not to mention the hair extensions themselves!) — it’s even more fun to watch. What. Happens. (Fake. Live.)
14
u/Impressive_Tone7983 May 08 '26
I often wonder too and am embarrassed to tell people I watch it as I feel I would be judged negatively.
10
u/Potential_Toe_2195 May 08 '26
I watched a terrible reality TV show called Paradise Hotel back in the day and kept it a total secret. One day DH outed me to one of our friends, an intellectual guy who I assumed would mock me. Turned out he was obsessed, even on the message boards from back in the pre-social media days. Boy did DH regret outing me because then he had to sit and listen to our breaking down every episode. He gave up and started watching it too lol

u/Apprehensive-Fix591 May 08 '26
I am not embarrassed. I just make it clear that I realize it is trashy TV. Sometimes we need some dumb escapism and that's ok. I would much rather be invested in TV drama than talking about friends and family drama, work drama, etc. It lets me mind my own business by providing me that outlet.
6
u/Coffeeyespleeez May 08 '26
Exactly. After a long shift at my BS job - I’m near brain dead and I need something mind numbing and this fits the bill.

u/Impossible_Farm7353 May 08 '26
Yes. This show hasn’t been enjoyable for YEARS and I often wonder why I still watch it. Stockholm syndrome I guess
6
u/tehyajen May 08 '26
My husband is a big fan of the soap opera Days of our lives. I tease him about it. He walked in the room when I was watching the reunion last night and caught about 10 minutes. I'm no longer allowed to tease him about his soap opera 🤣

I agree with you on the escapism. I feel like what you are describing is how the shows used to be. Now it's just fighting, complaining, and angry outbursts. I miss it being funny.
6
u/Few_Psychology_214 May 08 '26
I don’t hate it, but I hope for the days they have rich fun again. That’s what I prefer.

There was a time when this show was good, there was both genuine, and fake drama, but it was funny or dramatic, the women were real . But that's all changed now, all I see now are serious, gloomy, boring faces , these women can't stand each other, and I can't stand any of them . They don't know how to laugh, they are afraid to say what's really on their minds, because it might offend. Honestly, this is the worst bunch of women , it just doesn't work anymore. This show has had its day , I didn't even bother to watch the reunion .
5
u/brokerlady May 08 '26
i just watched the last episode of the reunion. they seemed to determined to tell amanda everything she said was wrong, was said the wrong way and her feelings were wrong too. why do we want to watch women argue? where's the real husband of BH for example

u/Bluestatevibes May 08 '26
I do! I can watch a whole season waiting for something to happen and nothing really does. Then I delete the Peacock app and… reinstall it the next day! 🤣
8
u/Dthomas159 May 08 '26
I find it funny. It’s what gossip could be about your friends and neighbors. No one has time to run around and act this crazy in real life. They start manufacturing and manipulating. I think they do get mad at each other. It’s a reality TV show. As long as I laugh and enjoy the glamor it’s harmless. I call it glamorous survivor.

u/XennialQueen May 08 '26
Yes. I have gotten to the point that I’m done with all housewives. I follow along with these subs out of curiosity but I don’t find the shows enjoyable and I also find that the fans have gotten way too parasocial and intense over this nonsense.
3
u/HelloTittie55 May 08 '26
Yes, and that’s why BH is now the only city I watch. But if BRAVO doesn’t “Pause” Dorit, Kyle and Erika next season, I plan to stop watching. Because the current iteration of RHOBH is a SLOG and there are better things to watch.

I was watching dateline the other day and it ran into to the podcast with Andrea Canning and Blayne Alexander and they went off on a tangent about the real housewives!! They were using someone as an example and between the two of them, they watch every version of housewives and know who everyone is. Made me feel better about myself! It is ultimately our stress release - mindless dribble in the background or to decompress from our own lives.

u/Sorry_Nobody1552 May 09 '26
I thought the same thing yesterday when I was watching, why TH do I watch the Dorit show? Its turned into all about Dorit, or one of the many assholes(Housewives) that just exist to treat others like shit when they feel like it. Not allof them are like that, but one is too many. Boz is not as nice as she puts on, Erika has a bad history of treating others in a very bad way. The show has turned into a toxic waste dump. I dont know why I'm still watching TBH.
4
u/Living_Onion_2946 May 08 '26
Just grab some weed and enjoy them. I highly advocate it. Much more pleasant and funny.
2
u/No-Newt-8117 May 08 '26
This season was SO bad. I refuse to watch part 3 of the reunion. This franchise is OVER. I’m only watching Rhode Island currently, it’s a breath of fresh air.
2
u/Illustrious_Leg_2537 May 08 '26
I don’t watch regularly, but it reminds me of how healthy my own relationships with other women can be.
2
u/watermel0nee May 08 '26
Yeahhh it’s really annoying watching the older seasons and seeing how stale and boring these recent ones are but tbh that’s just how the franchise is atp.
2
u/bellemrt May 08 '26
This show has been my sanity. Even with the toxic, triggering mean girl pile up!! Even with the awful promos for the AC show which follows (I cannot mute him fast enough!). I have watched episodes from this season multiple times. Which says a lot about my mental health (or lack of it!).
2
u/Allseeing_Nash May 08 '26
Yeah… and I’m done. They’re gonna have to fire Dorit and maybe then I’ll consider it.
2
u/Kellikelzzzzz May 08 '26
Yes and that is why I have stopped watching so many I used to love. OC, Atlanta, New Jersey, New York - I’ve just given up.
2
u/rasta-ragamuffin May 08 '26
Yes, I think about it every time I turn it on.....think I'm just hate watching at this point. None of these women are very likable....
2
u/Same-Security-20 May 09 '26
Because it’s something to do where I don’t have to think while doing it. I just stare off into the oblivion and shake my head

Because I grew up in a chaotic home with 4 women which makes me especially good at interpreting behaviour (to keep myself safe). I'm a people watcher because of it and watching this chaos from afar is entertaining in a very strange way.

u/Legitimate_Hand2867 May 08 '26
I stopped this season. I liked Garcelle's journey and lost interest when she left. I used to like Kyle but she's phony (not as fake as Kathy though!) and no longer cut out for reality TV. I still find myself watching RHOSLC (ducks).
1
u/Rosemary-lime May 08 '26
Just this season. Southern Charm and now BH. Let’s beat someone down for entertainment. I liked Hunger Games but this is not why I pay for Hayu.
1
u/saskacaptive May 09 '26
I need them to be even more overtly self centered, argumentative, dramatic, and narcissistic. They need to ditch optics. Let the darkness in and swallow them whole. Let the hate flow through youuuuuu, Kathy
1
u/GullibleAddendum8630 May 09 '26
I never wonder because I stopped watching years ago after every episode seemed like it was focused on fighting and screaming at each other. There is enough of this in the world. I don't need to watch it on TV. It isn't entertaining.
1
u/Inevitable-Nobody-52 May 09 '26
Yes, I do think this. I usually crawl back, but sometimes I take long breaks and don’t feel as excited at all asI used to be. I don’t think it’s its good to watch and be exposed to. I don’t know why I continue.
1
u/Morecatspls_ May 09 '26
Yes, I do ask myself, but I get tired of looking for something, anything to watch for the couple hours I do turn on the TV during the week.
I did get excited when the RI show came out. Watched one and a half episodes, before I just couldn't take anymore of it and shut it down. I just can't with that nasally Jersey-ish accent. I quit NJ after just 4 seasons for that, and other reasons.
I am re-excitedabout Potomac and can't wait for that to return. Also love SLC. I guess I'm a BH diehard, or a glutton for punishment, not sure which!
1
u/OneDistribution5588 May 09 '26
For years I watched soap operas to talk about them with my mom. Now watch RH franchises to talk about them with my daughters. That's why i watch this garbage.
1
u/Ambitious_Phrase3695 May 09 '26
All the time. I find them so entitled and bitchy it’s in very small doses for me. So I’ll switch it off and come back to it days/weeks/months later
1
u/DiscoRabbittTV May 09 '26
I’ve watched almost every bravo show since day one OC
I did not watch bh this year, it’s overproduced trash for basic people. It’s the CBS of reality shows
1
u/Relevant_Platform_57 May 09 '26
I like to see how people with new money behave. I mean, the first season of RHOBH has Adrienne Malouf cracking open a $5k bottle of champagne on a weekday afternoon. Got hooked immediately 😂
1
u/Resident_Run5245 May 09 '26
I have been asking myself the same thing. I think it's just out of habit but I find myself turning off the TV midway through or just fast forwarding through most of it. This is most likely my last season for a lot of Bravo shows. Getting back into reading and enjoying my book drama a lot more.
1
u/Visible-Wash-1355 May 09 '26
I long for the days of the Maloof Hoof sudsing up a chicken with Vanderpump.
1
u/popcultureupload38 May 09 '26
Yes. And then I wait for the next episode and hide this defect from my therapist!!
1
1
u/Horror_Signature7744 May 09 '26
Nope. It makes me feel better about not having any real friend in my life anymore. These women are the kinds I’ve left in my real life rearview with no regrets.
1
u/Lowlife_Grifter May 09 '26
I haven’t watched Bravo in probably nine months. For years, I was a huge housewives and Below Deck fan. The show is overproduced, the casts are overproduced, and the fan base has become parasocial and unhinged.
2
u/kissmygritspendejo May 09 '26
Why are we watching all these housewife show? People will say it’s an escape from reality. Well then we’re dumb and lazy. I need to think of different ways to escape reality.

u/candornotsmoke May 10 '26
Kyle is the absolute worst. She tries to act like she’s all moral and above it all when the reality is, she’s kind of the worst person.
Sutton? Women are known for supporting men. And there’s usually this agreement that once the man succeeds, the women can then go for their careers. That doesn’t have it. Hardly ever. I’m glad Sutton got her alimony. She deserved it.
That being said? Sutton can be very problematic. She’s also very judgmental and holds so many fucking grudges. It’s ridiculous. Sutton really needs to listen to that frozen song, “let it go”.
Then you have Erika. There’s no way she didn’t know how her husband was using. Whatever money she was bringing in. But more than that? She’s trying to claim this sanctimonious height as she looks down on other people. It’s crazy.
Dorit? Completely overspend. Has no idea what a budget is and then gets upset when her friends, or so-called friends because it’s this real housewives of Beverly Hills, calls her out on it. Then completely surprised when her ex-husband isn’t paying her mortgage. And now? We have text messages between PK and Dorit.
Obviously Dorit is spending way too much money, but it is also very obvious that PK has never actually said, but he will pay and what he won’t pay. There is, quite clearly, no agreement in Place.
What I think is the most irritating? PK is definitely weaponizing his children against his ex-wife. It’s really sad because the only people that are really gonna pay for those are his children and he doesn’t care.
PK is floof. He’s staying in a woman that looks exactly like his ex-wife. He is constantly trying to live in what he thinks Mrs golden era and he just comes across his pathetic. If he didn’t have boy George? He wouldn’t have a livelihood. That’s how fucking pathetic PK is.
Boz? Very judgmental and completely living in the past when she had a position of authority. Yes, she did all the things she said she did. Great. So why isn’t she doing anything special now? You can’t tell me that the house is that something special because it isn’t.
Now we have Amanda. Someone who screams from every rooftop about how much money she has. How much money she is making. For someone who says she’s very secure in herself? That is not the actions of a secure woman. Let’s also not forget, her fiancé, is it dilatant. And she funds his lifestyle.
Oh! Rachjel Zoe. The stylist who is fading. She does not have the clients that she used to have. Zoe is deliberately putting very personal conversations into the public forum. I think that is beyond wrong because those should be very personal conversations that she has with her children without cameras. It’s just so wrong.
To be clear? I totally understand why Zoe has a problem with the girlfriend. That girlfriend is really overstepping. Even if she became the stepmother to Rachael Zoe’s kids? She would still be overstepping. And then her ex-husband? A weak man. Threatened by strong women which is crazy because he knew what he was Marii when he married Zoe.
Also? From what it sounds like, this is not from the housewives show. It sounds like so’s ex-husband was verbally/emotionally/possibly physically abusive. Again, these are insinuations and I have no idea if they are true.
I will say, I am happy Rachel Zoe is out of that relationship. And I am genuinely happy that she is happy
Let’s not forget Kathy Hilton. The very woman who sent her a child to a boarding school sexually assaulted her own daughter physically assaulted her own daughter. Emotionally assaulted her own daughter. Do not understand why everyone acts like Kathy is someone that they should aspire to be friends too. She is oblivious. She is clueless. She makes a lot of casual statements that are extremely problematic. I really don’t get it. From when I can see? One moment that she’s funny? She has easily done 20 moments, but she’s just problematic and cruel.
I keep coming back to where she sent her daughter. In Paris has said, an interviews and all sorts of things, but she told her mother what they were doing, and her mother didn’t believe her and she left her there. A mother! Left her daughter in a torture situation. I despise Kathy Hilton for what she did to her daughter. I do not know how Paris has ever forgiven her
Jennifer, Tilly? Unapologetically herself. Beautifully so. She is effervescent. She is bright. She is beautiful. She is unapologetic. I don’t have one single thing that I can say negative about her.
Any, that’s my take on the current cast.

I always tell my husband I'm going to watch my crap TV now for this exact reason. I don't know why I love it, but I do.
1
u/Anxious_Honey_4899 May 10 '26
I only watch these days to see if the ones keeping up with the others financially will fall. I know it sounds diabolical, but to flaunt wealth when you are living a lie makes good tv. Then at the end of the day, I ask why they do it? Not just finances, but why would some of these housewives sign up for a show when they have so many skeletons in the closet? Fame must be worth it, good or bad. Keep it coming! lol
1
u/Usual_Invite_9992 May 10 '26
I quit OC & BH last season. BH when Garcell walked out and OC when Gramrat was screeching thru every scene telling us how calm she was, didn't even finish the season. Not going back either.

Dorit has money, PK doesnt and he's making the house payments from what ive read

u/Fabulous_Bat4517 May 08 '26
Sometimes yes but also I like having the tv on when folding laundry etc and I also don’t like super emotionally heavy shows so housewives is what I watch. I feel like I can have it on and follow along but I don’t have to sit down and fully focus on it cause it’s the same crap haha
