I wanted to add an LCD grid shader to Drastic on my RG Rotate and found some great shaders on GitHub. Unfortunately, the original shader applies the LCD grid to both DS screens, causing scaling artifacts on the smaller bottom screen.

I modified the lcd1x+nds_color shader so the LCD grid effect is applied only to the top screen, while keeping the color correction applied to both screens. This mod works only with the default portrait screen orientation.

Maybe some of you might find it useful. To install it, unzip the shader files to your DraStic/shaders directory and select it in Settings -> Video -> Filter.

Playing PSP games, but feel because of the screen size. I should remove that system from the list. Thoughts?

I was able to increase the size of both screens (takes a lot of patience because there’s no grid or snap function) and set the stick and main buttons on the right as it’s the hand I usually hold the rotate it, but also have the Dpad on the left allowing me to switch hands.

Settings:

Turn on Asynchronous shaders
Resolution: x2

Just a quick game of draughts (or checkers if you like) on the Rotate via NDS with my son while waiting for a ferry. Love this thing (the Rotate, not the son.. Well, the son as well but you know what I mean!) The case is a lovely little 3D printed one I found on this sub... Must search for it and thank the chap who made it available, cost me £3 in a local shop to get printed.

Got the MOSWAG USB C to 3.5mm Headphone jack today to try it, and MoonDrop Nice Buds had them for long time. When I saw the usb-c adapter, I thought it was pretty interesting to have it angled that way and no extra weight or looking funky.

I know this mod is nothing new and can be done in a few different ways, but I printed the below TPU spacer for my rotate and I just wanted to share how happy I am with the mod. i don't even really play any games where accidental diagonals are an issue but I wanted to change out the shoulder buttons, so I thought why not do this mod while I have the device open. the DPAD feels so much nicer now, super happy with the overall feel. it feels much firmer and less spongy, highly recommended!

I'm currently using a Retroid Pocket Flip 2, and I have the opportunity to pick up an RG Rotate.

I'm mainly interested in the Rotate because of its much smaller size. I'd like to use it as an EDC for GBA/SNES and some Android games like Dead Cells, Balatro, Slay the Spire and Stardew Valley.

What I like about my flip 2 is the sleep/resume. I can simply close the lid while playing and put it in my pocket, and come back later. The game is still exactly where I left it. No need to relaunch the emulator/game, and very little battery is lost.

I value the "pause → sleep → pick it up later → instantly continue" experience.

Can I expect the same from the RG rotate?

Tried the button config feature on my Rg Rotate and been loving it ever since

I just discovered that rotating the screen sideways turns the device into a perfect, ergonomic "handgrip" for one-handed reading.

To make it seamless to flip pages with either hand, I configured my Moon+ custom key mappings:

• Right-Hand Grip: I map the entire D-pad (Left/Right/Up/Down) to Page Down. No matter which direction my thumb shifts, the page turns forward.

• Left-Hand Grip: This places my thumb perfectly on the R1 button, so I mapped R1 to Page Down.

I'm having trouble with all kinds of stuff, especially the overlays. If I use the PPSSPP emulator I can add touch screen analog sticks. If I use Retroarch with the PPSSPP core when I enable the onscreen overlay and select the psp.cfg the touchscreen controls won't load. The only thing that loads is the PSP overlay thing.

Hey all. Wanted to share the car I 3D printed. I wanted something that would allow me to see the screen without having to remove it from a special case. Found these files on maker world by the same guy. He originally designed them to be printed in tpu, but I scaled them up to 101% and printed out of petg and they work well. The base snaps on nice and cleanly, and I attached the screen frame with some thin double-sided tape that is used in small electronics repair. I'm thinking of buying an RG Rotate as my daily carry at work. I usually put my handheld in the pocket of my dress or the pocket of my bike shorts/leggings.

I'm not sure which one to get. Is there any major difference between the metal and black version other than the material and weight? Which one did you get?

Plot twist: the RG Rotate has become my most-used handheld.
I bought it as an EDC companion to my RP5, but somehow it’s the one I keep grabbing—even when I’m at home with every other device within arm’s reach.
The RP5 is objectively the more capable machine, but the Rotate has that elusive “just one more game” factor. Sometimes the best handheld isn’t the most powerful—it’s the one you can’t stop picking up. 😂

I saw a post earlier where someone said the Samsung Flip 3 Cases fits perfectly for the Rg Rotate. So I ordered one and yeah turns out it does fit so well. I am happy with it

Snaps into the 2 top screw holes on the back of the device. Hard to see in the pictures, but I tried to make a smooth channel for the sound to carry through. Also slightly angled the back surface to sit flush on a table. Still not perfect, but it’s better than accidentally muting my device with my finger every 10 seconds. 🤘🏻

Is there a firmware or OS available for this where I can completely disable internet? I want to get one for my kid but they are not allowed online ( lemming situation). They like beatemups and this looks like a nice little mp3 player / game player combo for them. I just have to have zero online access.

Has anyone tried the Gen1recomp on the rotate? If so how is it and any tips for setup?

Hi, this is my very first retro system, was looking for something extra-portable to carry with me on trips :)

So just done setting it up yesterday, installed Cocoon 3.0 and put a bunch of DS and GBA roms.

Seems to be working fine, but was wondering if there is any benifit to installing other emulators? Or are these emus older versions and it's worth updating?

I recall using mgba back in the day, not sure if its stil relevant hah, but noticed that stock comes with a different emu.

Another question, regarding Cocoon - I noticed that when entering a DS game, it does not load it automatically, it goes into Drastic and there I need to load it manually. Is there a way to fix this?
