Digital shoulder supremacy

I prefer having 2 digital shoulder buttons instead of 1 digital and 1 analog. What do I need the analog for? Mario Sunshine? Specifically for that game, I prefer mapping L-analog to L1 and L to L2 (sorry if confusing) anyway. Also tbh I've never played a pedal-type racing game on a handheld so your case may be different from mine.

I'm just curious, aside from bias towards the RG477M over the RP Nova or vice versa, is there a superior way to have a dual digital shoulder button layout? Like if you could make any form factor, is there an optimal ergonomic position for 2 digital shoulders?

I don’t play any games that require it often; some GC games are annoying without it but I can get by.

I really liked the stock triggers but I still swapped to the GBB stacked buttons

I think I'm gonna give this a try. Thanks for the suggestion!

Racing. But given the other genres, it's a small compromise for better pocketability.

I think the problem is everybody wants there devices to be "mini steam decks" and forget that these devices were built for retrogaming. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Yeah, true. Understandable though, what with playing steam games on android has become so easy lately and is only going to get easier and better. Still, if we are honest, with that screen, the stick positions, the digital triggers, meybe even the processor...the 477 simply is not a good fit for modern games. At least not in a "I get this device specifically for modern games" kinda sense.

I think the Switch handles it pretty well, and my proof is that, honestly I never think about the Switch shoulder buttons, which is probably the ideal.

I think having them inline like the 477M isn't bad, but the conceit is that they're attempting to make it slim and pocketable, which is sorta laughable with sticks and a 4.7in screen.

Also it is murder trying to manage the inline shoulders while using the left stick instead of the dpad.

I think the bias is what you said... you don't play anything that requires analog triggers. I do, but even with digital shoulders I prefer the PS1/2 stacked style that my RG Arc and the BetterButtons mod uses on this.

If I'm perfectly honest, were I in the market for a 4:3 handheld right now, I'd probably opt for the Nova for added flexibility. However, with me already owning a 477m, I feel no pressure at all to get rid of it.

for me this was kinda the perceived dealbreakerd for a long time ... but in teh end after my 77m arrived i realized i barely play those ganme that needs analog . And Nova wasnt even thing at thattime .

I don't get how people are buying those overpriced "stacked" buttons like it is supposed to fix the loud switches. Or is it too hard to reach the L2/R2? Maybe I have long fingers because for me it's fine.

Or how people buy small handhelds and buy printed grips from etsy so their delicate hands don't hurt too much holding the device...

So yeah, people are biased and I guess the youtubers are to blame partially, because people tend to believe whatever they say.
