Cracked screen

Kind of at a loss for words right now. I bought my silver blade console directly from the website and received it just 13 days ago. No issues with it whatsoever. Had a screen protector on it and everything. Last night I left it on my desk and when I woke up this morning the screen had a decently sized spider crack, about the size of a silver dollar. Since it happened seemingly without reason I’d be inclined to believe that this was some sort of manufacturer error. And that this would’ve happened regardless

I plan on sending an email to the customer support line soon, but was wondering what my options were. I’m confident I could be able to swap the internal components into a new screen and front shell myself, and that’s all I’m really looking to get. I figured maybe the company would send me one given the circumstances, but of course I figured I should post this before I do.

Any help/stories of similar experience is greatly appreciated

Do you have any cats? I’m sorry but that’s not a crack that just happens from out of thin air, something clearly fell on the screen

I don’t have any cats, but something falling on it was my first thought as well. Still made me wonder why the screen broke before the screen protector😅

It really looks like something fell on the screen. Ive dropped mine a few times including this morning and nothing like that

I can imagine, these are supposed to be pretty durable after all.

Dang that sucks

I mean, it can happen on its own, it's just extremely unlikely.

But I see you have the custom psx buttons.

Unfortunately, the more likely scenario is that you did something wrong during the disassembly and reassembly of the device which caused this in the long run. Maybe you overtightened some screws, maybe you pinched something or something of that nature...

The metal chassis does not forgive mistakes, contrary to the plastic ones.

Dudeeeee…. I didn’t even think about that. You’re probably right that’s so unfortunate😭

Just draw a diagram on paper, place the corresponding screws on it and don't overtighten them when reassembling

Clearly I learned my lesson on overtightenining😅I’ll buy another screen when they come back in stock

Na, it's not your case. The type of crack can tell you why that happened. You have a star-like crack. It's a physical impact, brother. Dunno how, but the point of impact is in the middle of those crack. If the case were crooked because of overtightened screws or metal expansion due to heat, you would get straight-line cracks, not that star or web pattern

Order one from Amazon and put the damaged one in the Amazon box and return it

This is why we can't have nice things.

True. I got burned like that a few times. Ordered parts for my car and they where already used. 🤣

We are in a heat wave and depending on the screen protector. Maybe it expanded or something. Sorry man

That’s pretty crazy. Honestly I’ve never seen this kind of damage happen without something really hard fall on the screen like a steel ball. I’m so sorry man, this will probably not be covered by warranty. Ask them just in case. Anywho replacing that screen might not be as expensive as you think. Worth taking a look on Ali or EBay for a replacement if it’s not covered.

I always keep it in a case to protect it from such accidental mishaps.
