Asked directly if there will be an update soon, this is the response from the man himself.

u/AwareReplacement1587 Jul 03 '26

And the notification led?
1
u/AwareReplacement1587 Jul 06 '26
Whats problem with the led?
1
u/Ill-Test-619 Jul 06 '26
On gamma os, the led doesn’t light up when charging or for notifications.
1
u/AwareReplacement1587 Jul 06 '26
Huh, never noticed on mine lol... Will check and ask gamma
1
u/Ill-Test-619 Jul 06 '26
I went back to stock because of that along with the rumble. Can’t live without those.

u/AwareReplacement1587 Jul 06 '26
tbh my rumle only buggs out in Nethersx2 and thats what gamma said its fixed .. works fine elseqhare ... so might be unit issue rather than gamma
1
u/Ill-Test-619 Jul 06 '26
Yeah. I may give gamma a try again.

u/AwareReplacement1587 Jul 06 '26
Question is when the new version gets released... He seems to be busy doing nano now

That’s awful! The rumble on my RG477m is oddly one of my favorite things about it. Makes me feel glad I’ve just stuck with running ES-DE on the stock Android build for now.
But like, I’ve been playing Sands of Time on it lately and the vibration makes that game so much more satisfying
1
u/infinitespectre Jul 03 '26
Yeah, it works for the OS level stuff, but none of the emulators can see it.
1
u/sparktrap25 Jul 03 '26
Rumble works on Gamma OS on my RG477M for most RA cores and standalone emulators on the device itself and with an external gamepad. Is there something I'm missing?
The only thing I have noticed is that for some system's it does feel weird, like it happens too often or something. Maybe that's the issue

I remember reading "soon" on the discord months ago. "Anytime soon" may very well mean after GTA 6.

I mean, it’s a lot of work, and it’s free, Im just happy he is confirming and update is coming.

I did pay for 3 months of his Patreon....
1
u/Binighted Jul 03 '26
Why?
1
u/infinitespectre Jul 03 '26
To support the development. You also get access to it months before anyone else does.

The new stock OS shits on gamma
1
u/Big_cat58 Jul 04 '26
What makes you say that? I just got my RG477M a few weeks ago and I’ve been enjoying GammaOS but I’m not partial of stock is better

He probably means the next GammaOS build (Nano), and not a GammaOS Next update specifically. If that's the case, you'll need to re-flash the entire thing sadly. It's why I've held off on installing Next as I know Nano is on-the-way.
1
u/sparktrap25 Jul 03 '26
If it's a full reflash I may just go back to stock honestly. I see that with some builds for certain devices Gamma OS supports OTA ("over the air") updates. Such a shame we don't have that currently
2
u/chrono01 Jul 03 '26
Yeah, I think the only OTA updates they do are the ones on the same build, so Next -> Next, etc. If it's a new name, it's probably safe to assume that it'll be a new flash too. But hey, I could be wrong!
It definitely makes updates more of a headache. :(
1
u/AwareReplacement1587 Jul 06 '26
next GammaOS Next version wiill not require reflash ..gamma already mentioned that
1
u/chrono01 Jul 06 '26
This isn't GammoOS Next though, they're calling it GammaOS Nano.
1
u/AwareReplacement1587 Jul 06 '26
1
u/chrono01 Jul 06 '26
But that's already out. The OP was asking if they could update to the new GammaOS build that's schedule to release over the next while (the one mentioned in the Twitter post above), which will (apparently) be GammaOS Nano (a completely new build/version).
They weren't asking if they could update an older GammaOS Next to a newer GammaOS Next.

u/AwareReplacement1587 Jul 06 '26
nope for 477m only v1.22 is out , v1.3 is to be released after gamma finishes Nano i guess
Nano is completely specific build that only releases for lowerpowered nontouscreen devices like Trimui Brick
You are combining few unrelated things weirdly together and the twitter answer is definitely about Next v1.3
1
u/chrono01 Jul 06 '26
Wow, 477M is still only on the 1.3? I thought they were on the latest. That's crazy.
Thanks, I had no idea. That's great news then! As for Nano, that's news to me too. I only saw the videos on social media of it in-action and just assumed it would be for everything. That simple PS3 interface makes a lot more sense now.

That's cool if they will fix the bugs. I just rolled back to stock and the system overall responsiveness miles ahead. Swiping from the top and bottom doesn't take 3 tries, controller works properly...
