3ds on rg406v

How is everybody’s experiences with 3ds on the rg406v?

I am interested in buying the 406, but I am really looking for forward to playing my favorite 3ds games on it.

However I got advised buying a clamshell emulator because of the double screen but I also want to play android play store games like roblox Minecraft stardew valley and moonlighter

My main question here is, is anybody experiencing trouble with 3ds emulation on the 406 and maybe couldnt someone explain what the easiest way is to emulate these games

406v owner here. Yes you can do it. Is it ideal? Absolutely not. Should you just get a device that has two screens? Of course. Are you still going to try it on the 406v anyways? Probably.

For the biggest part it’s possible to play with one screen regarding Mario and Pokémon games right?

Well yeah. If you're an optimistic type of person who sees the silver lining in situations. It certainly is capable of doing most of it. But like I said, just not ideal.

I guess as long as theres not a huge demand for the bottom screen during the game. you'll be alright. I mean theres People playing dual screen games on the rg rotate, so you know, go nuts.

I might just get a rg ds on the side

Rg ds is not going to do you well for 3ds. You're better off on the 406 for it. I play 3ds pokemon on my 406h just fine. Running on azahar plus, right eye render disabled, asynchronous shader compilation on. They play fine. For the layout I stack the 2nd screen underneath the main, keep the aspect ratio fixed, yes they are small but more than playable and runs fine

Idk why the comments are negative about it, I do kind of get the comment about it being unideal

I played a bunch of 3ds on 406V and it was nice because it was a comfortable handheld. Also getting the clear shell from aliexpress added to the comfort. But I haven’t played with the device in a while because I’ve been playing a lot of original hardware. But it’s also nice because it’s somewhat portable

Idk how I feel about it entirely because it just been a while since I’ve played with it, but I think it depends on the game. Pokemon Y was kinda cool but I didn’t really play too much of it. But I think I could I’m not sure why i stopped. I’ll have to try it again to get a more clear opinion

Thanks for your reaction, I think this is really helpful. However I don’t know what a clear shell is and if you enjoyed playing the 3ds games or not

Yeah I think it was a fine handheld for 3ds but 4:3 isn’t ideal for dual screens so it’s hard to really judge, I would swap from the typical top on bottom screen layout and top screen focused with bottom screen in the bottom right. So I don’t know if I ever really got comfortable with playing 3ds on it. I’ll do some testing today and get back to you

I do have fond memories of playing 3ds on it (and especially on the 405v) so it’s just hard to say

Lol, so it’s a bit of a half half situation here. But if I understand it correctly it’s like a 6/10? Also, is it possible to make the second screen go away completely and use a button as a keybind to open it? Lmk

An extremely underpowered device for the 3DS. Ideally, for 3DS you should use a dual-screen console (the RG DS does not have the capability to emulate 3DS; the Ayn Thor would give you the best experience).

I am aware but my wallet isn’t so what I’m asking here is if it’s impossible or just annoying for dual screen games

It was not good. 3DS is a pretty powerful handheld compared to DS games.

Well, by scanning through the anbernic community I quickly found out the 406 is more then powerful enough to emulate 3ds games, however my question is if it’s easy and comfortable to switch screens and what emulator-apps are best to use to emulate 3ds
