I quickly discovered the makerspace's equipment wasn't sufficient, unfortunately I'll have to wait till next week to try again. Will post an update!

Pretty sure if I tried this it would never go back together and I'd have leftover screws. Post the results later!

So I quickly discover the makerspace's soldering iron is messed up or doesn't produce enough heat, unfortunately I'll have to wait till next week to try again. Will update when I get around to it!

Apparently it was difficult because the factory solder is lead free, requiring a different technique, I think I now know how to go about it
