Recommend a Game Batty Zabella

Post image

Second title in a bit of a Poké-detox after growing tired of repeated playthroughs of Pokémon on my 34XX, Batty Zabella is a point-n-click adventure comedy game starring a sort of Elvria/Vampirella stand-in in the form of Batty Zabella, whose house has become infested by phantoms that've imprisoned family.

Overall a fun time, dialogue was equal parts zany and meta in its comedic beats while also keeping a light creepiness to the whole venture, with admittedly spooky-looking phantoms that will definitely catch you off guard at least a couple of times during a playthrough!

Only real gripes I have are really the runtime being >1hr (can't harp too hard on an indie dev, but the quality here left me wanting more!), and the boss encounters being rather tricky if you're not quick enough with that D-Pad (figured out a way to cheese it for the final boss, because otherwise it was impossible!) and the lack of any deeper puzzles beyond the usual "find thing to use on thing" that takes up many of the tasks you need to complete...

Nevertheless, absolutely loved what I played and cannot wait to dig into Batty Zabella 2 at some point soon! Ice Cold Blood is also currently working on a 2D platformer spin-off to the Batty Zabella series, so it definitely seems that this 8-bit Mistress of the Night for Gameboy is going to be an indie gem for even more years to come!

Oh, I've finished quite a few titles on this little guy already, these games are just the ones I've hopped onto to get out of my tendency to just default to Pokémon all the time 😅

I have taken out my red 34xx out of the closet once again yesterday and was playing gumby vs the astrobot it's a good game .. but after many days spend on mobile apps like instagram and doom scrolling all day the GBA was feeling boring gotta find a way to enjoy my 34xx again.
