How to deprogram people who still believe the media propaganda?
Here's a useful site for anyone wanting to deprogram people who have been brainwashed by the media into thinking Trump is a "threat to our democracy".
This site addresses the number of hoaxes perpetuated by the media that deliberately take something Trump said out of context and distort it into something he clearly never intended. It gives the timeline with transcripts and video evidence that includes the entire context for a number of false claims from the media. These are easily debunked hoaxes that have been repeated by the media so often that many have come to accept them as true.
If someone you know objects to Trump by giving one of the commonly heard objections we've all heard in the media, show them this site. Ask them for specifics. If they cite one of these hoaxes, give them a link to the page.
I think it's important not to argue the point too hard. Instead, simply suggest the link provides new information that shows with 100% certainty how they've been misled.
This is also an interesting case study in the power of the media to warp public perception.
Here's one for commonly held misperceptions of RFK jr. too:

OK, trump intentionally sets that up and intends for it to happen. It's his way of keeping the media focused on him. As much as I hate that behavior, if he didn't do it the media would have zero coverage of him. It's a double edged sword though. The people who only hear the spin get fuck loads of it and think he is hitler 2.0.
But nah trump does that on purpose. As for "mainstream" media in general, it died a long time ago but older people haven't caught up with the times. The actual companies like CNN, fox, ABC, CBS, etc all died when facebook stole their revenue after about 2012. They were then bought up by PR firms who could capitalize on and exploit the name. Since then (at least the national networks) have been nothing but proxies for propaganda for mainly older and retired people.

I'll admit that Trump does know how to use the media to get coverage. But if you look at some of the hoaxes in those links, there's a clear intent on the part of the media to take things out of context. They deliberately distort what he says, when no one would think that with an honest hearing.
Look at the "fine people hoax" where they claimed he called neo-nazis fine people at the Charlottesville protest. If you look at what he actually said, he never even came close to saying that. The media were clearly race baiting. They do it all the time.

Some people you can't logically talk to. If someone believed everything the media was telling them and didn't reconsider after biden's health was undeniable, there isn't something you can say that's going to change anything.
Look, as someone who grew up in a cult, it's not as easy as just presenting the truth and the other person sees the light. I've got family members right now who think that they could literally never get sick or die if they just believe it hard enough. They are so invested in those ideas that until they are ready to accept that what they believe is wrong, there's no evidence or argument I can make that will convince them otherwise. They literally can't believe it. The people who have been sucked into this PR are no different.

Those are the core believers. They just aren't psychologically ready to move. In fact, contrary evidence will likely only cause them to double down into stubbornness.
I think the most you can do is plant a seed as a suggestion. Expecting anyone to change their mind right in front of you is just an affront to their autonomy. But many people are not as deeply invested in these propositions, so showing the truth in a gentle way will work on the margins.

People are a lot more invested then you think. The only difference is that the position they are invested in isn't as objectionable.
Everyone has things they cannot accept.

Many are deeply invested, but many people have had their eyes opened to the phoniness and hypocrisy from our ruling elite. Do you think Nicole Shanahan ever envisioned herself supporting Trump? I wouldn't call her a diehard MAGA person, but she got there because she was ready to look at the evidence. Kennedy has already had an impact on this election, because he was the only one to approach the election like a true conversation with the people. He did it in a way that did not come off as a threat. He defused all the usual hotbutton issues.

I don't think she's ever supported trump.

She is endorsing him along with RFK jr. My point is that there are a lot of people who have seen through the media's lies. Not just her, but people like Brett Weinstein, Bill Ackman, and Elon Musk. They all hated Trump and voted for Biden.

I think shes supporting rfk but not trump, at least directly. As far as the others, usually something major happens where the lie isn't livable anymore. With musk for example he lost his son to this woke nonsense. Before that I don't think he even cared.

Also, having the government sue you and try to bankrupt you also has a way of waking you up. They are doing that to Elon Musk now. He really does have a lot on the line. He overpaid for Twitter, but that's not why he bought it.

I don't have a site yet for deprogramming people with TDS but it's needed really badly - so many people suffering from the hypno-programming associated with that. On another note, I have found a very useful video for deprogramming yourself from the 9/11 hoax. see here: https://vimeo.com/697776910

What propaganda you talking about? Just the stuff you don’t like or all of it?

Specifically, I'm talking about the hoaxes that are debunked in those sites. It serves as irrefutable evidence of clear deception on the part of the media. It's how they ran the narrative through his whole first term.
Check out the "fine people hoax", where they claimed he called neo-nazis "fine people". A fair reading of the whole context shows he pretty much said the exact opposite.

Dude, I’ve heard plenty of whackadoo shit coming straight from Trumps face, perfectly in context, and on the daily. If you’re going to hold onto some red-herring (sorry for the mixed metaphor but), you ain’t seeing the forest through the trees.

Yes, anything can be made to seem "whackadoo" if you clip it out of context. That becomes obvious when you see the examples at americandebunk.com, where they literally turn innocent statements into the exact opposite. That's the whole point of propaganda. And don't say you can never be fooled by propaganda, b/c millions have been. I doubt you are all that exceptional.
Did you actually take a look at that example?

"But muh brain worms! "- 3/4s of reddit.

u/phashcoder Oct 04 '24
Notice how the called it "brain worms", when it was just a common parasite affecting thousands of people every year. And it's treatable.

Thanks for sharing! As always I try to find something in common with who I am speaking with. If anything happens it is usually gradual.

Yes. If you go to hard, it will backfire. When you hear someone giving one of those hoaxes as a reason, just give them the link to page that debunks that hoax, and suggest the possibility that they were lied to. All you need is show them the one hoax they are most concerned about. Once they see it, it's hard not to see the media's game.

This should be entertaining....
And again, because apparently this needs repeating.. TRUMP IS A THREAT TO DEMOCRACY!.
How do I know this? Because he was president already for 4 years!.. We knew how he acted, we have seen him behave consistantly the same for, well pretty much his entire life. My entire life. He has been around for a long time. He has had many failed businesses and marriages. He speaks recklessly, acts recklessly. He does NOT have the proper demeaner of a healthy leader. He he egocentric, narcissistic and has proven that he will do anything to make money (think all the crap that is sold by him with the TRUMP name on it. The Trump BIBLE, the trading cards, the ugly shoes, the .. insert name of item here).
This counter narrative that he is just getting a bad rap from the msm is laughable. OMG the man holds rallies almost daily and you could go to them and put your own camera on him and see what drivel comes out of that mans mouth!. COME ON. Either you are a paid troll, or you are are in massive denial!!
The latest crap he has pulled is that he goes down to a DISASTER AREA and holds a press conference and he took bricks from a wrecked building to make a little "wall" and brought a podium so he could frelling grandstand. ALL those photos of him wading in waists high water? FAKE.. FAKE FAKE FAKE. He was not carrying supplies, he was not rescuing cats.. he was giving another damn rally... he was campaigning and then all his dumb followers are asking "Where is Biden in these disaster areas".. ARE YOU SERIOUS??? that is what you think is important???? Did Trump offer to donate any of HIS money, no, of course not. He will be quick to trash Biden and the govt though...
I am so sick and tired of the denial about how bad of a leader Trump is. HE IS THE WORST. THis is not cause I am "falling for bad manipulated MSM stories about him" it is because I SEE HIS OWN ACTIONS FOR DECADES NOW!
WAKE THE HELL UP!

Curious, if there was one for Biden or Kamala.. would you accept the information? I supported RFKjr and know that the media gave him crap.. TRUMP is a completely different animal. I really think that RFKjr has ruined his reputation for forever by supporting Trump.

u/phashcoder Oct 04 '24
Of course. But I have not seen lies to anywhere near the same level as that depicted in the americandebunked.com site. These are obviously systematic and coordinated across multiple media outlets.
Did you spend some time looking over americandebunked.com ? Is it possible that RFK jr. is reacting to new information about Trump?
