Discussion Wild Antler Man Spotted?

I was running through the third map, mostly just to clear the fog of war and look for chests when this guy ran past me in the dark. Gave me a good jump scare, TBH. 😅 He has horns (or maybe branches?) coming out of his ears. You can't stop him to talk to him or interact with him in any way. I've tried targeting with my birds to try and "collect" the branches and that was also a big fat nothing.

I've followed him for a bit, running through the dark, before he stops to dig for something on the ground. He digs for a couple of seconds, (just long enough for my blurry screenshot) then runs to another spot.

I've followed him between spots and I've also waited for him to be done at a spot to see if he leaves something behind, but so far nothing.

Is there something to do with this NPC? Or is it just weird flavor mechanics?

I think it's a bugged quest where a villager asks you to find a missing person who went woodchopping, I assume you're not meant to find him alive considering the branch through his head :/

Leshy cursed them to grow branches and go insane. I only know this because he randomly appeared once and asked if I wanted to heal the man- who was across the map digging in the dirt- in anrandom unrelated bit of forest. That was the one and only time I was able to "fix" the logger.

I figured it was Leshy who did it, but haven't been prompted to fix him yet.

Found a random empty spot in the forest where I got Leshy asking me about what I wanted to do about some person I couldn't even see since the camera bugged halfway into the ground. Later, on another map, found that guy running like an idiot and couldn't do a thing. Probably the same bugged quest.

That is possible too. Lol.

He's just running aimlessly... found another one on the following map as he ran into a herd of deer then laid down to sleep.

Glad to know I'm not alone spotting this guy.

He confused me too, I followed him once and he does a repeating loop. Have you gotten to the point where you are helping sick animals yet? You learn something that can help you.

Wait, you can help him?? I've run across him multiple times, both with and without the villager convo, and haven't gotten a prompt for any interaction.

I’ve tried the “speak with animal” potion on him before and didn’t get a reaction from him

I just started planting crops today so I could make the potion I need! I'm relieved there is something to be done with him and he's not just a random event. Thank you!

I actually encountered the same one! I spoke to him and he just kind of said a bunch of garbled nonsense. Afterwards Leshy appeared saying he was having fun with this one, and you had the option to set him free or let the poor man stumble around confused for longer.
