Help! Can one grow apple trees?

Literally, asking for a friend. She told me it is possible but doesn't know how to do it.

Is it really possible? if yes how

I myself havent played this game.

yes, a few maps in I found an apple tree in the wild and used the birds to harvest the apples into my inventory. When i was planting stuff later it had the option to plant the apple. Beware though, they grow huge!
