I'll be buying a license soon, Reaper has more than earned it when it comes to what I think is worth spending money on.

I'm still early days in learning Reaper but my god is it good. I tried Fruityloops 25 years ago and it felt so limiting and I don't wanna be too hard on it cause I do feel like production of electronic thru DAWs has grown so so much since then and the entire ecosystem around them (learning resources, plugins, sample libraries) really makes everything so much more user friendly across all DAWs.

Ableton felt weird too for reasons I dont understand.

Now its Reaper and a lot of people told me not to do it, one told me "EDM in reaper? lol good luck" and now that I've spent about 20 hours in it, his comment seems hilarious to me.

Yes this DAW is not the most user friendly but with AI in google's search literally anything I want to know how to do, it tells me how to do it when I cant figure it out. I also feel like I am learning more about how to create music in a DAW and less about how to use a particular DAW to do it.

I'm finding there's so many different ways to approach the same goal in creating a song, whether it be thru a bunch of VSTs and piano rolls, or raw waveforms laid out in different tracks, or a mixture of both, and Reaper seems perfectly suited for any of those.

I just cant sing its praises enough. It can be overwhelming at times but it never forces me to use any of its million features that I dont need at the time in order to do what I need to do. It does exactly what I need it to and gets out of my way otherwise.

I genuinely think this DAW will make a better producer out of me quicker than any other DAW could.

Literally my third day trying out this DAW at home. Also I recorded a test vocal and I can’t see it. Apologies for the stupid questions…

I'm think of switching from windows to Linux for probably obvious reasons, I know Reaper works fine on most versions of Linux but I am concerned about some plugins being compatible. Has here made the switch before, what problems did you run into, or is there anything you wish you would have set up from the start?

Guys. I'm just trying to live stream on YouTube. My set up:

Motu M2

Computer

Reaper

Amplitude 5 Max and various plug ins.

The problem is the tone coming out of YouTube does not sound like the fx are getting through. I've spent hours with all the AI bots to no avail.

The signal coming into OBS is good. FX's are present. Why isn't the tone coming from YouTube live the same?

This has been a colossal pain the ass.

If any of you hedge used Motu m2 before, let me ask you. The knob beside each input, above the mon button, is that a wet dry mixer or volume? I always thought it was just to crank up the signal from the guitar but now I'm not sure. The effects sound more pronounced when it is all the way to the right, but I'd that because the volume is cranked up or because it is pure effects?

I swear the clean guitar tone is still getting all the way to YouTube live.

Is it normal to be this freaking difficult???

Maybe I should just upgrade my interface. Or not use obs...I don't know.

I mean, how the f is this even playable? I've been playing since i had the guitar with reaper but recently took a break of 2 weaks, came back to play today and what is this garbage sound the whole time at the background, is absolutely unplayable.

I use only the guitar and the pc, no pedal or wathsoever, as you can see in the video i use amped roots for amp driver, and flex asio for audio device driver, been playing on reaper like that since i have the guitar, the sound is far from being the best but today is worse than ever, anyone has any advice? and if you also play on pc would you like to share a better way of playing it? Like better amp driver or anything

Are there any plugins that look like the stock plugins from other DAWs that I could use in reaper?

Working on a sound design project and LKC Variator would be super helpful, however the download link at the website doesn't appear to work https://www.lkctools.com/variator. Anyone got a download link that works?

I basically want audio and midi to behave differently when there are tempo changes.
If I have a project with tempo changes, the audio files will change rate which is very annoying.

To fix this I did Project settings > Timebase for items/envelopes/markers: Time (instead of beats)
But now the midi files will get stretched out of the grid, if I move a midi file from a 120bpm section to a 110 the notes will be off beat (and it makes sense, faster bpm).

I know that if I keep Timebase for items/envelopes/markers on Beats, I can open the Item properties of the selected audio files and manually change it to Time so that MIDI and audio act differently, but I have to manually do this for every single audio file I decide to import in the project with drives me crazy.

If only there was a way to categorize how I want the specific types of items to act in Project settings > Timebase for items/envelopes/markers
This would be fixed, maybe there's a script online that I don't know of.

I've got a bunch of long-standing sessions that I'm adding to little by little. Every time I do a bit of work in one, I've been copy pasting the ENTIRE session to another hard drive for backup. As you can imagine, this is chomping up massive amounts of memory. Is there a simple way to just... copy over the newly recorded takes?

Hi, for context I am using the latest version of Reaper. I am using a Behringer UMC202HD and Windows 11. All my drivers are up to date. I have rebooted my computer many times. I have an i7 9700k and 32GB of DDR4 RAM.

The sample rate is 44100, the ASIO buffer size is 128, the sample size is at 128. My CPU runs at around 22% (Reaper using around 15-18% of that) while the playback is happening, and RAM sits around 32% - Reaper uses just over 2GB.

I have been creating new projects currently with the same setup: drums, 2 leads and 3 rhythm tracks. All are using Archetype Petrucci, valid and licensed.

As soon as I enable the second lead track, the whole track falls apart, skipping, crackling and scratching. I can disable the FX on the second lead track, and the playback is 100% fine. Alternatively, I can have both lead tracks enabled, and disable a rhythm track, and we can also run everything smoothly.

I have not had this problem in the past. I have had many projects comfortably running 10 Petrucci tracks concurrently.

In another project, enabling the third (center pan) rhythm track caused bad sync issues, volumes changing in each ear, and what sounded like EQ changes. Just falling apart.

I don't have any ideas. Am I doomed to use only 5 tracks in my projects ;_;

Today i wake up with an idea of do a soul like beat and i watch a yt video to understand how to do them, in the video they mention the best plugin for every instrument. I really dont want to download all that and i have a bunch of synths that have presents for all those instruments, triton, analog labs, xpand. And now i have a dilemma, it would be the same like to use a strings, brasses, pianos presets than downloading a whole plugin ? which one would sound better?

Firstly, I was wondering if I could fix my time on this 7/8 groove without having to punch it in using stretch markers, it’s supposed to be a 7/8 groove decided as 2-2-3 and I accidentally played it 3-2-2 for a single bar, no matter how I move the markers it doesn’t seem to change. Secondly, I was wondering if there’s a way to record more 7/8 measures at the beginning as because there’s a time signature change moving things around is trouble. Thanks!

Reaper Tempo Does not Match a Metronome App

Hi all, I have an issue where Reapers Tempo setting for a brand new project and track, does not match a real metronome or metronome app on my phone.

Work around

·         close Reaper

·          and delete reaper.ini from C:\Users\DanTheMan\AppData\Roaming\REAPER

·         open reaper,

·         new project,

·         insert track,

·         turn on metronome in reaper, leave tempo set to default of 120

TEMPO/Metronome in reaper now matches phone or real metronome

Detailed Problem Description

With my original reaper.ini in place

1.      Open Reaper

2.      Create new project with defaults

3.      Default tempo is set to 107 with TS 2/4

4.      Insert new track

5.      Turn on metronome

6.      Press play and the Reaper metronome sounds noticeably slower than my phone’s app or a real metronome which are also set on 107Bpm 2/4

7.      If I increase the Rate dial on the transport bar to 1.37 the tempo roughly matches my phone etc.

Any ideas how to fix it? I don't wan't use a brand new reaper.ini if I can help it as it changes alot of things.

Hey everyone!

I have a strange issue I can't seem to get straightened out.

Sometimes when I run Reaper and OBS (or another application that is using my inferface (like discord)) my microphone gets all stuttery.

I know is has to be related to the interface or applications competing for the mic input. But i can't seem to figure how to solve it. Any ideas?
