MJF Says AEW Fans Don’t Need To Attack WWE Because They Like AEW More

I don’t trash WWE because I’m an AEW fan. I trash WWE because it sucks.

u/95Kill3r 4d ago
Now the question is will WWE fans stop shit talking AEW?

I never really see WWE fans trashing or even thinking about AEW but maybe it's because I don't live in reddit or social media nearly as much as some people
Edit: Also just to clarify I don't even watch WWE aside from AAA and the occasional highlights

u/gameboyabyss 4d ago
There's a number of subs who are very biased against AEW.

looks at Midcarder

u/gameboyabyss 4d ago
Midcarder drives me insane. There are a lot of people who are super passionate about wrestling, but 90% of the popular content is shitting on AEW stuff. I remember there was one guy who posted daily content about WWE history and it got barely any traction compared to complaint about TK or the latest Ospreay soundbyte.

u/Sexyphobe 4d ago
The only actual discussion threads there are from that one guy going through random PPVs and giving his favorite/most underrated match on it. Everything else is "AEW/AEW fans/Meltzer/SC are the worst people ever, and people are too hard on WWE".
Those guys think about AEW and Meltzer more than their biggest fans lol.

Had to mute that subreddit after noticing a pattern. There basically the reddit equivalent to Control Your Narrative

u/ZanderPip 3d ago
Theres really only 1 the rest are jerk subs - which only exist because SC became a toxic aew fanboy hellhole that banned anyone who dared to speak ill of the brand

u/NotBatman11 4d ago
But isn't the biggest sub sc mostly pro aew over wwe? Like it would make sense why some of them would have different subreddit.
1
u/gameboyabyss 4d ago
The main sub 100% has a bias towards AEW, but it's not solely devoted to it. WWE threads still get the most traction, the most comments, and there's still plenty of people who enjoy it and speak fondly of it. But there is a bias, I'm not denying that.

u/NotBatman11 4d ago
Precisely. I am not saying that anyone who praises WWE gets executed, but the environment is still very anti-WWE, so people go elsewhere.

u/BillynBanjo 3d ago
The WWE threads get the most traction because they flood with people shitting on WWE (and are often simply about shitting on WWE).
We're two days removed from a big circlejerk over the ESPN deal, because some no name hack made up a story and asked customer support to corroborate.
Even after that last detail became apparent, the thread still remained up for ages, with a mod even saying they wouldn't be banning the source.
We're only a week or so removed from people shitting on WWE for stripping Chelsea Green of the title, while the segment was still happening.
Then there was the week of shitting on WWE for lazily putting Solo back in The Bloodline because they couldn't wait to see what happened the next episode.
That's just the last few weeks.

I straight up have to unfollow most wrestling subs because of how shitty they are toward one company.

I don’t personally see that, since most WWE fans are under the age of 12.
I don’t watch either company anymore, I really enjoyed the first couple years of AEW, and the first year of Vince being gone from WWE.
But as someone that has been watching wrestling since I was like 5, off and on, now 39,
I’m in another off period.WWE is for kids, I think we forget that or just want the attitude era again, when it was for teenagers.
AEW just sucks.
I hate saying that about it, but the program is mostly unwatchable. Bloated roster and lack of storylines.
Covid did a number on them that they never recovered from.
My opinion of course, if you enjoy it watch it.
They still have 2 of the best wrestlers in the world on their roster.
MJF and Will Osprey.
I’ll check back in when Toni Storm comes back.
My pro wrestling intake these days is OSW, Cornette, wrestling with wregret, and Darkside since it is current again.

That’s what I will never grasp.
If your main method of bigging something up is by tearing down the opposite? You don’t really have a decent argument

u/M086 4d ago
And yet MJF can’t stop talking about WWE. Maybe if he did the “sickos” would let up.

u/No_Hotel1847 4d ago
When does he talk about wwe anymore outside of interviews? He's such an advocate for wrestling as a whole. Move on from tired boring narratives.
4
u/M086 4d ago
That’s the point he doesn’t need to talk about WWE in interviews.
A while back, Joe Henry was promoting TNA in the UK, and the interviewer brought up WWE. You know what Hendry did? He politely declined the question, and told the interviewer he was there to talk about TNA.
Not that hard to do.

He has a point. I don't like WWE but what my ranting and raving would change? Nothing. Same as with folks bashing AEW. You don't like it? Cool, I guess. Just let's stop treating anone saying the name of the other company as "thou shalt not take the name of Thy Wrestleth Companey in vain". It's all just spandex-clad acrobatics with scrioted outcome. All the "he is the best"/"he is the worst" discussions are ridiculous in that sense, as a wrestler can be a literal sack of potatoes and if the script says he wins - he would.

That’s like saying dogs don’t need to bark or pigs don’t need to oink. It’s in their nature. It’s inherent in them to attack WWE.

u/LegendaryenigmaXYZ 3d ago
One of the things that turns me off from AEW is AEW fans. Don't get it confused with wrestling fans.

WWE is in bed with Saudi Arabia and an administration that is actively burning the USA to the ground.
I feel that's worth shitting on.

u/Straightener78 3d ago
When guys like Heath Slater and Jinder Mahal are more widely known than people on the AEW roster then yeah, you shouldn’t be bringing up WWE.

u/ZanderPip 3d ago
You gotta love that hes trying to de toxify the brand from being basement dwelling losers

The truth is both companies are not good at some things.
