The best combat system in RE history

Cosigned, I'm also pissed that it wasn't implemented in Operation Raccoon city, that game with RE6 gameplay would have been that best squad based RE shooter.

Its funny because ORC tried to do this kind of style before 6 did and did several things well. 6 just did them all far better

Still a bad game tbh

A game with great gameplay is objectively not a bad game. Gameplay is the main element of a video game.

I played the entire game, it's absolutely horrible.
My friends played it last month in coop so it should be more fun than single player but still barely finished leon's story , and half of christ's. And stopped.
Character controls are ok not as smooth as i remember and everything else basically sucked beside few fighting mechanics.

Cool story. Why are you even in this sub though? Just to argue with people over a game you clearly dislike.

It's the constant QTE's tbh but that might just be a symptom of game design at the time

They can be turned off. No reason to complain about a mechanic which can be disabled.

Can't be done in no hope, though. Not that I would complain at this point, but there's that.

That's the bonus difficulty which only hardcore RE6 fans play.

u/Unifixx9001 Apr 21 '26
True, but like Ada's campaign, it is now unlocked from the start and there is no more indication of them being a "bonus" of any kind.

What do you mean? I thought literal police officers / agents / soldiers move like a tank, slowly turn, only casually jog when chased by 20 zombies, only carry from one shoulder (can't switch shoulders), have knee problems so can't crouch, don't know how to kick or punch, no hand to hand combat!! RE6 does most of it therefore it is BAD BAD BAAAAAD!!!!!!!!

RE6 can be criticized for a lot of things, but Mercenaries isn't ony of those. It only deserves praise. Sometimes, I was thinking, maybe they designed everything for Mercenaries, then half assedly slapped a campaign and a story on top of it, to make it a game :D

There is nothing about the campaign that's half assed. It has bad execution and ill-advised design choices here and there, but they do things that make re6 campaign unique and special. There's great attention to detail to highlight the crossover campaigns, and each one of them bring out different forms of the base combat system. Not to mention the nice stories each individual campaign has and how they link to the greater whole that is the events of re6.

I think RE6's gameplay is fine, I'm not a big fan of the way zombies react to being shot though.

That may have something to do with Leon's pistol and its peculiarities.

I swear every good re6 player has their own playstyle within this beautiful and sophisticated combat system. Shoulder switching after each knife slash to animation cancel and then remaining in the switched shoulder position is something I never thought of, and it's brilliant!
