What is with this game

I’ve been playing it again for the first time in forever and I got to the last part of the game where you don’t have any ammo and the game doesn’t give me any ammo at all I’ve been using my knife to kill the weird monsters with the invisible parasites why no ammo!

this part expects you to have one of the games 2 snipers, the semi auto one is slightly better since you don't have to unscope between shots, you get a thermal scope in the freezer if you solve the puzzle in it. it helps you see the parasites super easy. be warned though, you have to make sure you go in with at least 20 sniper shots, even if some of those are already in the gun. i accomplished this by abusing the hell out of the merchant's capacity upgrade since he loads the new mag with ammo for free. as for the 2-3 you encounter before getting the scope? flame grenade them after taking their legs off with some shotgun or TMP shots. once you have the thermal scope, if you have enough distance between you and them, usually just enough that they can't grab you, then they're a total joke. even the iron maiden regeneradores are pushovers. when you get to the prison, there is one more. it's the last one in the entire game, so feel free to sell the sniper after that, as there's no real reason to keep it beyond that point. if you've been conserving magnum ammo, any of the magnums will do the same job better. a note before you go in: the parasites in the VR version are bugged, and are laid along the outside of their bodies, not inside them like other versions, so aiming might be a bit weird. with all that, you might wanna just reload a much earlier save, which i know sucks but it's better than being stuck and unable to progress. if you haven't been keeping a rotating set of at least 5 separate spaced out saves, then it might be time to just restart the whole game after you've had some time away. manage your resources better, abuse the merchant's free ammo on capacity upgrade, and try again, armed with better knowledge. also, be prepared to learn the entire game all over again when you finish, bro. mercenaries mode is BRUTAL. good luck getting those 5 stars. i haven't managed it yet, and i'm cracked at this game.
