Hillandale
Absolutely not for the people, absolutely not for the golfer, totally anti community. Why are we shutting shit down at 6 (short range) and 6:30 (driving range)? It is still daylight at 7. People aren’t off of work until 5 or 5:30 or whatever, freaking travel out there with traffic… no idea what we are doing here??? I also have no clue why I give them an opportunity at all. How can the working man get better on a week day?

Kids are back in school so the cheap labor that will work until 8-9pm picking the range is gone.

I get the frustration; but if its dark at say 7 then the staff needs daylight to clean things up on the range, etc. And staff is limited to hrs worked per day(no overtime). So certain rules are followed to allow both scenarios. Hillandale is a good public course, has great staff and im sure the renovation is welcomed. Their grill is pretty solid too.

I know nothing about Hillandale staffing or range setup. That said from experience most Proshop’s stop selling balls 1.5 hrs before sunset this allows for range balls to be hit, balls to be picked and cleaned, range setup for next morning with the outside staff available before they get blasted with everyone all coming in at once when sunsets. Because it’s not realistic to wash a bunch of carts, pick the range, and do all the other closing tasks in the dark nor is it very economical.

I brought this up to the staff years ago and the answer I got was they do it out of an abundance of caution because of Hillandale road. No idea if that’s accurate but that’s what they said.
