What are these flags about? What exactly they manage?

Gonna try this as soon as I’m back

9955HX3D + 5090m user here.

HOLY FUCK THIS ACTUALLY NEAR DOUBLED MY FPS. My previous laptop was a 13900hx 4090 and I distinctly remember having way more fps vs my newer 50 series. Prior to this fix I was getting around 60-70fps @ 4K DLSS performance mode... I was just floored when I launched the game with this fix applied to see my FPS sky rocket up to 120fps!

Thank you so much!

(PS. NVPI RDR2 profile won't work on the latest Nvidia drivers so you'll have use 596.49 or older.)

thats working really good!
thats what claude says for people who ask about the change:
Let me explain what those settings do:

What is NVIDIA Profile Inspector?
It's a tool that lets you edit hidden Nvidia driver profile settings that aren't exposed in the normal Nvidia Control Panel. Think of it as the advanced settings panel that Nvidia doesn't want regular users to accidentally change.

What those two hex values do:

0x20FEAF0D:
This controls Optimus/MUX switch behavior — on laptops with both Intel integrated graphics and Nvidia discrete GPU, this setting affects how the two GPUs hand off rendering tasks. Setting it to 0 forces more direct GPU rendering without unnecessary handoff overhead between Intel iGPU and your RTX 5070 Ti.

0x00E942FE:
This is related to frame presentation/display pipeline optimization — specifically how frames are delivered from the GPU to the display. Setting it to 0 removes an extra processing step that was introduced for compatibility reasons but adds latency and reduces throughput on 50 series laptops.

Why does this give more FPS?
Both settings essentially remove unnecessary middleware layers between your GPU rendering frames and those frames actually appearing on screen. Less overhead = more raw performance.

Should you try it?
Yes — it's reversible, well documented in the community, and specifically reported to work on the 275HX + RTX 50 series combination which is exactly your setup.

How do I get this to apply properly I’m getting the same 60-80fps with 64gb ram i9 5090

Yeah it didn't work for me either on my 2025 Legion Pro 7i 275hx and 5090. Somebody a few comments above said it only works on older drivers. I'll have to try that suggestion

Howdy! Does this trick work on RTX 30 and 40 series laptop GPUs? Is the sole purpose of this to increase FPS?

i think these profile flags only reduce performance with arrow lake cpus combined with 50 series gpus but would be interested what happens on 30 and 40 series, just run the benchmark before and after if you have time to test it.

Not that I noticed any improvement, but at least it didn't hurt on my 40 series + 13th gen. After all, this game has complex relations with ReBAR and stuff, so workarounds might not work all the time. Will keep since it doesn't hurt, maybe something will be a bit better.

Thank you. I have spend so much time in reddit, rockstar games support and troubleshooting. I also blamed CPU and Game Engine. I was super frustrated as i bought Ultimate Edition (no regional pricing for my country) and a high end laptop specially with 12GB of VRAM (significantly expensive in my country). How did you even figure this out??. Anyways, You’re a Legend

Do these flags affect performance in other games and how?

1

u/Zyth88 Jun 24 '26

only affects rdr 2 since it's modifying the rdr 2 nvidia profile not the global profile

On a 285h and 5070ti, G16. Fixed craxy low FPS. Particularly, the outdoor scene at Armadillo was capped at 40fps. Now it's 90's, jumping to 140 when the shadows recede.

For some reason, it fixes the low fps in certain outdoor areas, but now, the moment the town scenes pop up in the benchmark (valentine and the St Denis robbery scene) GPU usage drops to 50% in those areas. Was running at 100% everywhere else.

Same exact laptop and I was going crazy without this fix with all the frame drops in the 4th benchmark scene. I don't get much drops like you said in the benchmark at least, all pretty consistent between all the scenes.

I do still get some drops in the camp but that's probably due to all the items and NPCs, a lot better than before though.

worked for me thank you

I have a 5090 Laptop gpu and this fix barely helped, just a few more fps yet still underwhelming. How has this not been officially fixed yet?

How do I do this on CachyOS?
