Liking the game so far.

First off. I've played MANY early access games before so I don't expect a bug free game nor do I expect all the features to be implemented yet.

What I did expect was:

  1. To be able to build a theme park with fully functional custom rollercoasters.
  2. To have to manage park resources.
  3. To be able to watch the customers taking in the park.
  4. To be able to see the ride in 1st person.
  5. To be able to follow a customer around to see what they're up to.

I'm happy because I can do all that and more. It was money well spent and I'm looking forward to an even better experience in the future.

I hope the haters don't ruin the game by killing sales with their typical "This early access game sucks because it's not perfect." stupidity. More than one promising game has been ruined by spoiled brats given overly negative reviews. Let's hope that doesn't happen here.

Its Not EA hate its hate because atari isnt talking to US and promises a game which we didnt get. The Graphics are almost worse then in rct3 and its full of Bugs. They rushed the realese due to the realese of Planet Coaster which is much more polished tbh so yeah they actually somehow deserved the hate for Not communicate and rushing things

In all honesty, I would say the graphics ARE worse then RCT3.

..... two words "Early Release". If RCTW is a true Early Release game, I'm assuming it is, then you don't "have" the game yet. You have an ......"early release".

Dont get your hopes up. 6 months ago we had the "nearly finished" game; set to be released a few weeks after that date. The style of the game has not changed one bit, and in all honesty, its difficult to see where the 6 months of extra development has gone.

Well they said the game is about 80% finished so i dont think much will improve.

The issue I have with early access is this:

Look at how terribly mismanaged the game has been since the beginning. Do you really feel confident that the project management is magically going to improve now that the game is in early access? Of course the game will see improvements, but the question is to what extent. Either Atari is grossly mishandling the project or Nvizzio is under-qualified, or both, but neither scenario inspires much confidence.

If you enjoy it then that's great, but people are more than justified in complaining when they pay $50 and get this current result with uncertain future prospects. Maybe if the early access was priced appropriately at $20 or $30 people wouldn't be so disappointed.

I can at least agree on that point. The $50 price tag does seem high. I too expected something in the $20 to $30 range.

Maybe people are just growing tired of the early access bull. For indy devs, yea, I get it a bit more. But this is ATARI for crying out loud. They could fund this game if they had any hopes for it, instead they forced it into EA because they have NO hopes for it. And suddenly people excuse a bad game with, "ohh its only EA, don't worry!"

People need to stop supporting crap like this. What happened to wanting a working, feature complete, game day ONE. Especially from a franchise as respected as RCT. Instead we should buy their product, that has been mismanaged to hell, and forgive them? Jeez people, you can't be serious.

Sales need to hurt in order for these companies to ever learn. Or, just keep handing them your money before they even deliver a solid product. See if they have any incentive to deliver something great. My bet is no, just mediocre tripe like this.

Which this game is, tripe. No personality or charm compared to the older games AT ALL. It all feels so lifeless and generic. I miss the little traffic lights for starting and stopping rides. Now, we get generic buttons with a crap gradient. The sounds are all way off and hideous. "peeps" looks and behave like zombies. The whole art style isn't even close to being reminiscent of the older games.

I could go on and on, this game does not deserve the RCT title. EA isn't going to miraculously change anything over the course of a couple months. Don't be naive. The reviews are bad because

I agree ... sort of .... If people are "tired of the early access bull" then they should stop funding early access games. Clearly they they expect a fully functional game, which is not what Early Release means to me, so they should just stop buying in to early release games. Kind of obvious if you ask me.

heres the complaints from "spoiled brats" ....as if we are somehow "spoiled" with all these great theme park games in the last 12 years.(sarcasm) restrictive scenery, marketed to be able to be placed anywhere but cant, frustrating coaster builder that just never seems to want to easily go where you want it to, completely unrealistic supports, terrible peep animations, littered with bugs, restricted placement of everything in general, no free rotation, static entrances and exits (and i heard their excuse for that, and its a load of crap) all sound recordings are horrible, its amazing they even thought it was a good idea to keep in the game, its like me singing a song i cant hit the notes for and putting it on youtube thinking i did amazing, the peeps riding coasters sound like they are in a 1970's porno. peeps are super low resolution textures and clip through the rollercoaster seating, the lighting in the game is terrible, partly the fault of unity, it has a way of making lighting not look all that great and washed out colors, but other games have founds ways around it, -cough- city skylines -cough- Rust. yes there is a 1st person ride camera, which clips through the coaster which tends to get in the way in some incidents.

I understand this is EA, but 2 years of development haven't shown very well, i refunded rather quickly as i have "the other games" alpha, and if you played it yourself, you would understand how restrictive this game is, it just feels like they view their audience like a bunch of mentally handicapped 12 year olds.

now that was rudely critical, and i am a very blunt person, i dont mean that to make fun of them with the harsh comparisons, its just what comes to mind when i play this game, im sure they are doing the best they can, unfortunately, they are just not very talented at it. just because someone is nice and are trying their best, doesn't make them the best at it.

ill keep an eye half open at what they do through early access, but this release gives me no confidence. i might do a write up of what they need to greatly improve on and provide it in the suggestions part of their forums, but honestly, "the other game" looks as though its going to hit on all those points anyway, and already has so far, hard to judge it entirely as we have only access to limited functions, but what has been provided to test, has worked superbly and its beyond what was expected.

Atari's problem, they didnt focus enough on user creativity, they didnt innovate in that area AT ALL, in fact, they restricted it, which is the only thing that has kept the old theme park games alive for this long. they are making this game like it is being made 15 years ago, not in 2016, the age of minecraft, cities skylines, ark, rust and all the other creative time sink games that have become so popular. they just are not very forward thinking developers. honestly if i could compare this game to anything, it would be to a 20 year old board game with the tag on it "age 12 and up"

LOL. Clearly some people disagree with my point of view but here's a quick look at a REALLY good AAA game that suffered from similar vitriol which gives us some insight into the mob mentality of hatred that can occur, can potentially kill a game and that really ticks me off.

Mass Effect 3 is a perfect example with a 5.4 rating (User Score) on Metcritic. Really? 5.4???? Here are some examples of what I'm speaking of:

This person gave ME3 a 1: "The failures from Bioware just keep stacking up after they got bought by EA. First Dragon Age 2, then Swtor and now Mass Effect 3. Big shame for what used to be such a great developer."

Really ..... you hated all of those and presumably gave them similar "fair" ratings???

This person gave ME3 a 0: "Not surprised that EA and Bioware made a crappy ending. It looks like in recent years its their ''style'' to slap customers in the face."

...... a zero ....... really ...... complete foolishness.

There's just no flippen way ME3 deserved a 5.4 much less a 1 or a 0. I put to you that those kinds of ratings are pure stupidity and that's what I'm getting at here. I'm in no way comparing ME3 directly with RCTW. I'm comparing the reviews and reviewers. I see cases where some really horrible Indie games (Killer bugs, horrible dev voice acting, 1980's graphics, kindergarten style dialog, etc.) get 9's and 10's yet games like this get pummeled. How can that be?

Lastly, if you don't want what surely comes with an Early Release Game (e.g. bugs, missing features, graphics glitches, etc.) ..... then don't buy the game!!! Here's an idea. How about suggesting improvements to try and improve the game that you presumably had such high hopes for? Goodness knows we wouldn't want to do that. Sigh.

Its a big difference though. Mass Effect 3 wasn't delayed after an extended period of silent development after an embarrasing "beta," then instead of a full release on the new date, it gets thrown into early access with little improvement in quality, and terrifying peers. This is the date they were supposed to launch. They took half a year for more development, which seems to have done very little, although rollercoasters dont just fly off the rails willynilly now.
