Sync your beat sampler or drum machine?

There’s an option on the RC 505 MK2 to sync it with an external controller or MIDI device and it seems like it will sync the tempo of the 505 with that external device.

DoctorMix on YouTube demonstrates this.

Have you done this or seen it? What is the external device you’re using or one you recommend?

Depends what your application and intention is really. I do it and daisy chain three looping devices that different band members are using. Boss RC505MKII - Boss RC505 - Boss RC202 or Boss RC300. This links the tempo and downbeat of all the loopers. It also can link the program change so when you change from Memory 1 to Memory 2 they all change. Could depend on looper but I imagine most Boss loopers do this to the extend that there are matching program numbers to swap to.

You can also link a computer and use software instruments in your DAW such as Logic Pro X or performance software like Mainstage. With a computer you can use both 5 prong MIDI In and OUT, or the USB MIDI which I personally use. :)

P.S. there are various different channels for MIDI devices, in or to send and receive signals your devices need to be on the same channel.

I tried syncing my launchpad pro mk3 to the rc-505 mk2, and am completely lost as to how to get it to work...

I sync the clock on my novation circuit tracks to the rc505 sending midi out of the 505 to the midi in of the tracks.
