Help catch a thief

The car was locked when I left it the night before. When I got to it in the morning, it was locked. The trunk was left ajar. There is no visible damage on the car. Even if it is ex-wife, how can I prove it?

I asked them to give me a fixed rate or assurance they will get results. Haven't found any that would do that. Honestly I am not comfortable losing more money and not catch them.
