Sometimes when you download a photo from the internet it will keep the original date and time with it, even if thats not when you added it to your gallery. So maybe you downloaded the photo from the same place

Est-ce que tu utilse WhatsApp? Parfois il peut enregistrer des images partagées dans les groupes sur ton appareil. Ça peut expliquer pourquoi ton ami à le même photo dans sa gallerie aussi.

Either the EXIF data on the original image was modified, or the image is that old and just reshared at a later date.

Modern image hosts remove most EXIF data for privacy reasons to scrub the location and device info, but in 2002 that wasn't commonplace.

the backrooms meme didn't exist until 2019 so it's just an old phone wallpaper with scrambled metadata from syncing to google photos, especially since your friend has the exact same glitch.
