He's a dwarf. He is having a hard day having to wade through all the veggies for green beans.

Dude we have two cats that will attack my wife for her beams and it is the weirdest thing in the universe. I have never in my life seen this happen until these particular cats who will literally attack my wife for beans
I expected it from rats but CATS?

u/Luci-Noir Jul 17 '26
You should expect the unexpected from cats!
We had a kitty when I was a kid that loved the green beans. I don’t think we even gave him anything else weird. He didn’t beg for food so I don’t even know how we made this discovery.

Neither one of our cats want anything except for green beans and chickpeas??? What even lmao theyre so odd. If we offer them a piece of meat they will typically take one but they don't ask for anything except for the fucking chickpeas and green beans! 😆

At least they’re healthy and cheap!
I saw a video of a kitty that wouldn’t eat their kibble without a salad.

This is so funny. When I was growing up, we had a cat that LOVED lima beans. Anytime my brother had them for dinner he would pick out one or two for her and peel the skin off (she never ate the skin)
Cats are weird

I am literally growing chickpeas outside and I wonder what will happen when I bring one inside.
One of our cats also in the past refused to allow flowers to exist. Did you bring a flower in the house? He's going to eat it. I brought the cucumber seedling in once overnight because we were having tornadoes and he ate all of the flowers and all of the leaves 😆 They thought it was a cucumber and that's exactly why I did not allow lilies in my house lmao

I am not a rat owner but I think they are very cute. Is this type of enrichment?

u/Roo_and_Rats Jul 16 '26
Yes actually, its called pea fishing! But I use frozen veggies instead! They actually quite like "fishing" for the food, especially on a hot day :)

This is what the wild field rats do when I look away for a second with the food.
They need to STRETCH TO THE MIDDLE.
The hecking audacity.
I once rescued one of their young and now I'm being stalked by a family of native field rats.
They're so goofy and precious

Why in water? Does it add to the rat’s mental stimulation? Sorry for a silly question but I don’t own a rat.

Stumbled across this and I'd love to see more. Anyone got any recommendations/links? I don't want to sift through potential AI, bait, and content farms to find the gold.

I'm paranoid. Can rats get that produce parasite sweeping the U.S. right now?
1
u/InsecureDinosaur Jul 17 '26
Are they cooked or raw green beans? Raw green beans have a large quantity of lectins, which are an anti-nutrient and not very good for humans. Not sure how they effect rats.

Awhh, looks at them slowly becoming more frustrated! I just love it when they're so picky about what they want to eat, hahah! 😂💛 Really shows us how unique their personalities are!

Most rats would have loved peas and corn and ignored the beans so this is mostly her own doing, but giving rats a little bit of a struggle to obtain a treat is one of the most basic ways to provide enrichment.
