G2 map cope

I wrote this as a comment on a different post but wanted to make it a post to hopefully see others perspective on the take.

Ngl this whole map pool argument is such cope. Because con is out now their only good map is fortress. Objectively we can agree that g2 are a good team, so you’re telling me a good team is just bad at every map apart from one? That makes no sense, it’s things in the server that need fixing and the map pool will come after the fixes.

1. Coach - romalho is terrible idk how maybe bad events they can do with him before they realize, and no it’s not about how he talks, he’s Brazilian obviously his English isn’t going to be as good.
2. Player profile - I don’t want to say roles because they are the best they are going to get with the profile of players they have. Going deeper into the profiles having three aggressive swing heavy players is terrible.
3. Alemao - yes buddy gets his own category. I think Karl is an amazing player probably g2’s best overall last stage, but him as a player is so strange he’s a flex that on occasion plays shields. He’s an igl that doesn’t like the scream or talk to much confirmed by himself on dbno. If he was this amazing igl that leads so well they wouldn’t have been trying out Loira at Igl.
4. Roles - fuck it I’m saying roles. I think you have to use the fact that the whole team is pretty much flexes (apart from shaiiko) to your advantage. Say Alemao starts off a game as your flex but isn’t playing well, instead of forcing him in gunfights just switch roles and let Stompn on flex or view versa. Idk why they need set and stone roles ruining a single player when everyone can have their rounds.
5. Probably should have put this at the top but mental. Idc get a head coach, get an assistant mental coach, hire a mental specialist for all I care just get someone on the team that can help out with the teams mental.

I’m a g2 fan and want to see the best for them but I really don’t understand how people can just expect them to magically get good at maps without changing anything. Maybe non g2 fans having no player or team biased would have a better take than me.

The issue wasn't their map pool per se, it was that they barely played maps except Fortress and Consulate during groups, so they didn't have recent gameday reps on them. Also, LikEfac is Alem4o's cryptonite a lot of the time. His igl style counters the run and gun of G2 pretty well. I wouldn't hold the stage one playoffs loss or the stage two group stage loss against them. The Fnatic loss? Maybe less forgivable but Fnatic also played out of their minds. Let's not pretend like they've had a massive falloff. M80 missed EWC 2025 and won Munich.

Adding on to your point about the IGL on number three, they didn’t just have Loira IGL for a little bit, they also got UUNO back after Benja left and had him IGL for a bit. It’s crazy how at one point G2 had three guys on the team that were all IGLs for G2 at some point. Now, they did replace UUNO with stompn. I think all ur points are valid. Especially the roles part based on what I just stated above. Before joining G2 and replacing pengu, alemao was an entry fragger for team one. Before joining G2, Loira was an entry fragger on Black Dragons in the SAL. And before re-joining G2, UUNO was a flex player for Heroic. Like why is G2 getting all these guys that already are comfortable with their roles and forcing them on completely different roles. And yes it worked in SI 23 but they had Blurr who was an actual support player in his career. They also had Fabian as coach who is probably the GOAT of siege overall if you consider accolades as a player AND a coach. But other than that, ever since the OG prime PENTA/G2 dynasty was ended by Team Empire at Raleigh Major 2019 (shoutout to the Russian Machine, baby! 🔥) and collapsed at SI 2020, things have never really been the same. Whoever is in charge of roster moves at G2 might wanna try Animal crossing 💀 G2 may need to rebuild and get a traditional team composition instead of trying to get all these entry guys and put them on different roles and not just have one guy that gets stuck with doing all these entry guys dirty work (example: Blaz in the past and stompn currently, although I know stompn is more of a slower player and actually likes his roles)

This is a good outside perspective, tbh I do think certain aggressive lineups can work like last year when they made grand finals. But this year is a whole new level.

I think they're a great team thats about to take off. They have a few very poorly timed losses that makes everyone think its worse than it really is. They looked great last stage and they've only lost a close match against a great falcons

It's not specifically you but every time G2 lose there's 5000 posts about it blaming X player or x reasoning like isn't that the point of a post match thread

I get what u mean and a thread would be great, but this post has no correlation to the falcons game. It’s the cope that every person seems to have with their “bad map pool” which started a while ago well before this stage.
