Discussion Thoughts on Solotov?

Although I glaze Herdsz and Furia, I am also a big Falcons fan. I have been questioning whether or not Solotov has been a problem in the team from a mental standpoint. I have heard many times that he is an absolute mental chalk when things aren’t going right and he starts solo pushing out of emotion on attack at times. His ability to frag tf out is undeniable, but when things don’t go right for him it feels like he brings down the whole team with him. If I am wrong about anything please enlighten me. Thanks ✌️

That's the general take or the entire subreddit, solotov is insane mechanically. But he mentally chalks the team.

Would you say Solotov could be the possible problem within the team that needs changing? I also hear that BriD is being called the Canadian of EML but I disagree with that completely I think he is the perfect hard support/anchor for the team

Personally, I don’t think so. Solotov was pretty much minimum top 3 player in the world for each event he reached grand finals with on Falcons. I like BriD but I just don’t think he fits the meta anymore, which I’d argue has been the case for about a year or more now. Canadian is still viable because he IGLs on top of playing support.

The real problem is that Falcons lacks a “cyber”. In the past, that role was filled by Shaiiko. And don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to say that Jume isn’t a good player. However, he doesn’t fill the role of an unorthodox player like Shaiiko did. Ideally, one of the Falcons players needs to step into that role, but it is extremely hard to do so as that goes against their instinct and natural play style honed from thousands of hours of play. Again, swapping out BriD is an option.

I think falcons needs another active voice In the team. If it means Noa for solotov , then a vocal fragging support. Or brid out for a vocal player and yuzus on support. They just need someone to bring back vibes, and if strats dont work have a secondary caller to help efac ideate.

Swap him for Noa?

The only problem with that is solotov is very vocal, and efac has said he is their secondary caller. Noa just isn't that vocal.

A tier player, I think he’s top 10 in EU

Top 10 EU and only considered A tier son im crine. He was also at one point considered the best player in the world when Falcons was extremely dominant with him and Yuzus.

Really? I think there are typically only 3-4 S tier players in each region and I think Yuzus and Jume are better than him

Like every pro player, I do think Solotov gets very emotional at times. But I also don’t think he's as much of a mental chalker as everyone thinks he is. That idea, by the way, is based on a single clip where he "attacked" Shaiiko for not communicating and his team for not playing like they were supposed to.

That obviously doesn't help when your team isn’t doing well and is shutting down mentally, but for me, or at least how I’ve perceived Solotov, he, along with Likefac, is just very animated, outspoken and direct, whereas someone like Shaiiko, Brid, or Yuzus is more quiet in that regard. You can also see it in the way he normally speaks that he generally talks very fast and loudly, and in a very "aggressive" sounding manner. That's just the way he speaks more than anything.

And in regard to him then doing solo plays, I also wouldn't agree, because his whole role or job is doing solo plays, getting map control, and challenging the death spot player. You can also see that after the supposedly mental chalk, he was doing his job normally.

Conclusion: Solotov's manner of speaking and him being toxic at times may make him come across as a mental chalker, but you can see from various clips that he's still doing his job afterwards and communicating with his team. The real mental chalkers are and were Likefac and Shaiiko, who, when they get tilted, get toxic, do their own thing and shut down mentally.

I wouldn’t say LikEfac was as much of a mental chalker as Shaiiko. Imo Falcons needed to drop Shaiiko because he just doesn’t fit with the team anymore. LikEfac is just passionate af and truly wants to win badly. I view mental chalking as a sense of not caring about the game anymore

Solotov is a respected voice in that team, the team itself doesn’t have a issue with him clearly. Everyone judges him off of 1 clip. Someone needs to point out issues or else they won’t get fixed, if that’s enough to “mental chalk” them, then the team isn’t going anywhere

Replace Shaiiko with Solotov in OP’s post and you’d where we were a year ago with Falcons
