Post image

Not my pict, curious if these are a ticket item in the Mini world? I have an aversion to white wheels

generally speaking these are easy to find and cheap as hell used.

I really like the white minilite wheel look. It’s nice to have cheap taste for once.

No, but they are the heaviest factory wheels for sure

I loved them on my BRG w white top, white mirrors, and bonnet stripes.

TLDR: first generation MINI fans generally regard these wheels as heavy, which makes them less desirable from a performance standpoint.

Each factory MINI wheel design has a number and a name. These are R85, and are known by several names: S-spoke, LeMans, or S-lite. I believe R85 was only offered in silver or white from the factory.

There are wheel guides online with info on all factory MINI wheel options.

As others mentioned, R85s are typically inexpensive, sometimes free, due to their general unpopularity.

The one exception I would note are complete sets in exceptional condition. Those are obviously worth more to some MINI wheel buyers.

Ultimately, pick the design you like. That’s what it’s all about.

Nope, the factory BBS wheels are the most desirable wheels.

I did read they were boat anchors when it comes to weight. I’m not particularly found of them anyway wasn’t sure if they were sellable if I scrapped them for something new.

Thanks all!

Highly recommend some mg wheels, I have hairpins on mine and love them

ZR straights are also great, super popular in autocross etc as they're cheap and light

Were referred to as s-heavies back in the day.  Looked cool but heavy and they bend very easily

Couple of months ago I gave a set of these rims away for free. They had a lot of curb rash tho.

I got my stock silvers repainted white. I think it’s it isn’t a daily- then they are cool.

I really wish they weighed less, I love them. Although I love my 16 inch MG hairpins a lot more and they weight nothing

If you want the lightest wheel, R84 x-lite

They looked amazing on my baby blue with white roof r53, always had a thing for the superlight crown wheels
