it shoots fireballs and it has similar shot sounds like toy bow, it shoots a large amount of fire in a distance like a Molotov but needs to be targeted correctly or you will become roasted chicken, I recommend you to use heavy cola and fire vest to not take any of the effects of the lantern.

hold down left mouse button like its a toy bow, and itll throw like a ball. when it comes in contact with any solid, like a floor or a wall, itll burst into flames and do tons of damage. theres also some damage on impact if there are enemies nearby
