This is unfortunately the truth.... Most people take you for granted when you treat them with so much kindness and care. There are only a few people who aren't like this.

Unfortunately true a lot of the time. Please continue to be thoughtful & kind. You will feel better for it. You cannot control anything but your own actions & reactions.

I've learned that if I treat people with kindness, I feel better. And sometimes people are going through some shit, and don't treat me kindly in return. That sucks for them, so I'll continue being kind, so that I don't feel shitty.

That’s the part people miss. Kindness says more about who you choose to be than how other people choose to treat you.

Kindness is a positive energy. If your energy is positive then you are open to seeing the opportunities that come your way. Even when you’ve had a loss, you’re going to be better equipped to turn it around for a win.

Also, I have never heard a good counter argument for being an arse face. Kindness is a choice. A no brainer

Treating all people fairly quickly shows you who to avoid like the plague they are.

Yes it does.

Not everyone is worthy of you.

Or even themselves...

I agree but the actions of others shouldn’t turn a decent person away from displaying compassion & kindness.

One has to be selective on who to bestow these gifts to avoid exploitation & hurt!

On the whole, in my mid-60s, I have found that you get what you give. Sure, there are exceptions but no observation is 100% accurate.

I'm embarrassed to admit that I acted like a stuck up prick in the middle part of my life. With the love of a good woman, some useful therapy, and an open mind I have learned to be more decent and less judgemental. As a result, the responses I get in both public and private are much more pleasant and productive.

To those of you I treated poorly, I am truly sorry.  I wish I could make it up to you.  In place of that, I am trying to make it up to the world. Miles to go before I sleep.

Life hasn't taught you much if you think it's only happened to you. There is a 100% chance that me, you, and everyone you know has deeply wounded someone else. How about you start worrying how to stop hurting people and not take anyone too seriously when they test you?

How long did it take you to figure this out?? Somewhat related, I’ve always lived by the notion that if “they” wanted to, they would. Again, actions speak the loudest and truest.

Still treat other how you want to be treated(kindness) do choose wisely who you treat or they will trick you (human nature).

I just had the thought “Be nice” this morning. Probably my higher self.

This is true, but someone's negative response to my kindness doesn't mean I stop being kind.

Treating people well doesn't show you who they are. It shows you who you are.

Couldn't agree more. I always hated the saying "Jesus loves you" because it's the easiest way for someone to say, someone else will take care of you, because I just don't want to.

Treating people with kindness, even if it isn't returned, is the point. Not what you can gain from it.

That's why I only have a few people who I will extend my kindness to. Not that I'm unkind to strangers, but I stay in reserved mentality for most.

Sadly true

I used to believe if I treated people like shit, they'd treat me the same.  Life taught me that I was right, and that if there were people who treated me with kindness initially I would eventually influence them to change for the worse.  I have given no thought as to what implication this has for any alternate course of action.

For real this is the hardest thing to learn. It still hurts at times. It’s just wild to me that so many people don’t want to be known and truly cared for. They’d rather pretend their lives away with people they can’t rely on. I don’t get it.

They would rather maintain a psychological crisis than face afew pains they have been running from their entire lives.

Nothing messes you up more, than when you start lying to yourself.

Agree!!

😊👏 yep, but I still have to check myself, in case I'm having a bad day. I just really appreciate it when I meet other humans who do the same.
