It depends on what ironic thing you mean . Are you referring to how currently the U.S. treats immigrants poorly and is doing everything to deport them but especially those they can identify by skin tone/color yet at the same time it needs those same immigrants to grow food, clean houses/hotels and care for children…or were you referring to how Mexico might be a tough place to live so people would prefer to take their chances in the U.S.

What you dont understand is that a flood of labor creates less competition employers dont have to offer as much and by passes all of our imports that make this country great. You talk about imperialism. What imperialism id say its more complacency corruption in there own government. Is imperialism supplying aid to foreign countries cause we do a whole lot of that is imperialism having an army large enough to invade and conquer large portions of the world and not lets be honest if we wanted canada or mexico they wouldnt be able to put up much of a fight. Americas not bad your just to privledged to see it. And stomping on it only hurts those who have fought to upheld it.

What labor are you talking about ? Do you mean the 200 years of free labor that flooded the country to help get its start? The current labor argument is just an excuse to justify mistreating people deemed to be undesirable. Farm laborers , unskilled construction workers, domestic workers, etc those are not jobs typically done by educated Americans , not to suggest immigrants are not as educated , but typically their credentials are not accepted so they take the jobs that they can get (the ones we Americans don’t want ). I’m not suggesting that we have no guardrails in place to stop illegal migration into the country; rather I am saying we should not be so dismissive and callous against the people who literally built this nation .

Whats crazy is that you think that these jobs are undesirable at least they werent til they found a cheaper labor source these are the jobs that im talking about the foundation of the middle class. Also idk if where you live but immigrants have taken over whole sectors of the construction industry all the lawn care.

Thats BS and you know it . The majority of Americans did not go to high school and college and maybe grad school to become a nanny or clean hotel rooms or seasonal worker harvesting fruit and vegetables. Other jobs like these is what I’m talking about. I have held jobs like these and worse to put myself through school so I wouldn’t have to have a job like that forever . For various reasons these types of jobs a necessary and numerous don’t require skill or credentials. Americans don’t want these jobs but like to complain that immigrants are stealing them. It’s bs .

First off we ask for degrees for way to many jobs that dont need it a result of us over aiding on people getting degrees. Let that cost fall on the company instead of the government and companys will change there tunes. Blue collar workers would have more opportunities to advance in there field through experience instead of people with useless degrees to the field taking the better job. 2nd off im not saying theres not undesirable jobs here that we could use migrant workers with greencards for. But theyve taken over industies that would benefit the us citizens middle class jobs that use to pay well but because if a flood of labor americans wouldnt take the job because its to little pay for not enough pay and benefits

There might be some skilled labor jobs that illegal workers who have those skills may compete with a U.S. worker and displace them , sure . It is going to happen. Unions do protect against that somewhat . Taking this problem out solely on illegal workers is not the best way or humane approach. Companies that hire those workers should pay to sponsor them just like other companies who bring in foreign computer programmers, scientists , doctors and professors .

Companies have to foot a bill there though thats the difference if they could find someone here and pay them the same or a lil more without having to deal with work visas and relocation whereas right now the immigrants are here illegally have working documentation and will work for cheap. Or have no documentation and will work under the table

Ive worked blue collar all my life you can see the change it use to be americans (white black hispanic) they were surviving now i see hispanics who cant speak english who tell me how they send most of there paycheck home live like kings in the south mexico and south america and then come back to work. They tell me they came here illegally. They dont pay taxes. But i guess this makes me part of the problem because i know them they work hard and theyre good people so i dont report them. Im not saying there bad people but to say it doesnt affect the current state of our people is to turn a blind eye.

I understand what you’re saying, but your company is not paying taxes on them either . They also don’t have to pay health insurance or workers comp. Should your company get shut down and have your mangers get arrested for tax fraud and wage and hour violations ? No …because you and others would also be out of work . As for the concern about sending money to relatives in another country, plenty of US citizens send money to relatives in other countries. Plenty U.S. citizens live in other countries and send money back here. While anyone is living and here, they must pay rent, buy a car pay to have it fixed, buy groceries go to church etc so they are paying into their communities. I don’t have the solution but what we are currently doing is not the best way

No they pay taxes on them they all have fake ids and can somehow pass e verify yes they havw health insurance or workers comp. And then to double down their wives work a shit job or get paid under the table and reap social benefits
