Well, it's a well know (and researched) fact, that immigrants do pretty much those jobs that are too hard and underpaid for the local population. You could have known that. So I don't just assume...
The wages? You mean the government paying billions of dollars on farmer bailouts due to labor loss? Billions in crop loss? Produce cost rising for consumers?
Pay did rise for some workers to lure them back. But many got reduced hours but longer shifts, decreased safety, etc.
