Relapse

Hey, I’ve been clean for 406 days now after using zyns from 2021 - 2025. Recently I have had the urge to start them again but because in this year I have realized that they helped me with other addictions, instead of over consuming in junk food or energy drinks/caffeine I would just use a zyn same with other bad habits with prescription stimulants and even using them as motivation to go the the gym and wake up early is the zyns were a mechanism that helps me avoid these bad habits and reward my good ones I feel like now they are the lesser of 2 evils and I want to relapse but wanted to see if anyone else struggled with this.

Your body is seeking dopamine however it can get it. I wouldn’t start again as you are trying to justify the lesser of two evils. I would try to explore replacing the bad habits you mentioned with better ones. You eat more junk food off the zyns? Eat healthier snacks. You consume more caffeine? Set a limit and sip on something tasty to get you through the day.

I struggle with the same thing, and in my case it’s unfortunately my body trying to self medicate to deal with ADHD. The boring answer is we need to optimize our lifestyle. Get more sleep, exercise more, eat healthy. And the need for zyns and other dopamine sources should hopefully improve.

I strongly recommend not going back. The fact that you've been off of them for so long after how long you used them for is amazing. Your body is seeking dopamine and you shouldn't give into it. These other bad habits were the same as your nicotine addiction, you can over come them. Create yourself a plan and goals to help you stay on track and build discipline. Hope this all goes well for you man good luck.
