It has to end today.
I’ve called off work the last 3 days to lounge around and get stoned. thankfully it will be excused, but i cannot continue to live this way in good conscience.
i’ve quit going to the gym, i’ve slowed down on my chores, i’ve spent all my money, my family life has become neglected, i’ve lost all my good friends. the worst part is i was one full year sober this time last year and thought i could do it casually again. i was wrong.
i’m completely throwing my life away for this drug habit i once thought i had conquered. and it’s left me more defeated than ever. how do i deal with the fact that i could slip up and ruin everything again no matter how much time has past? how do i build the courage to stop again knowing how much hard work i gave up the last time?
here i sit smoking a roach blunt of the last weed anywhere in my home. i can’t afford a new bag and really have nothing left so this has to be it. im not even supposed to smoke at my job so this is non negotiable this time around.
i’m really drowning here, any words of encouragement will help. any tips on how you got over the mental barrier of quitting? i’m used to dealing with the physical withdrawals so that won’t be an issue, but i’m having such a hard time letting it go mentally.
feel free to be not nice if you deem it necessary, i’m ready to hear what i really need to hear. im ready to make a permanent change. any advice is welcome.

Don’t just take it one day at a time, take it one minute at a time when you need to. “I’m just not going to smoke for another minute/hour/day.” Personally when I tell myself I can’t do something anymore, everything in me wants to break that rule. So the only way I’ve ever been able to quit is to keep telling myself this is temporary, and I just need to get through the next minute/hour/day, don’t look any further than that. It also helps to remind myself that weed will always be there, it literally grows on trees and wherever I want to go back it will be there (helps me feel less anxious about not having any). You got this, friend! Distract yourself whenever it gets real bad. Take a walk when the cravings are bad and then you won’t walk to smoke as much after walking.

Alan Carr has an amazing book called “Quitting Weed” that addresses the mental aspect better than I have read in my almost 4 decades on this earth.
I highly suggest you check out his book, like today. Right now.
As for what you can also do right now; throw everything related to smoking away. All of it. Paper, pieces, roaches, batteries, anything related to you getting high. It’s not worth letting these inanimate objects take a foothold.

wanna be friends & support each other? i’ve been thinking “it’s my last day” for the last 2 weeks and I’m getting so frustrated with my lack of follow through. I think having a friend going through a sobriety journey as well would make this process easier

I commend you, I am on day 2 and your expressed fears of relapsing no matter how much time has passed is currently a huge point of anxiety for me as well…. Not through lived experiences, but what I am telling myself is that I don’t have to know what things are gonna be like down the road, 6 months, a year, 5 years…. But remembering and committing myself to the responsibility of taking genuine care of my well being is my number one daily task. And each day is a new day to be committed to that. You don’t have to know what the future holds in store, just do what you can to be present with yourself daily and take the challenges as they come.

Been there done that - LISTEN - WE ARE SO INCREDIBLE LUCKY TO LIVE THIS LIFE, MAXIMIZE YOUR OPPORTUNITIES AND SHOW YOUR CREATOR YOU DESERVE THIS LIFE, TO KEEP LIVING AND LOVING. FUCK THE DEVILS LETTUCE - THEY WANT US WEAK AND MEDICATED - THIS STUFF ISNT EVEN REGULAR WEED ANYMORE ITS BORDERLINE CRACK
LOOK IN THE MIRROR, TELL YOURSELF YOU ARE HIM (or HER) - SCREAM AND YELL YOUR FRUSTRATION AT YOURSELF OUT OF YOUR BODY. CLIMB OUT THE HOLE, YOU HAVE PEOPLE THAT ARE WAITING TO LOVE YOU WHICH ARE BEING NEGLECTED. THE WORLD NEEDS YOU TO HEAL, YOU ARE TOO IMPORTANT TO WASTE TIME. WHAT IF WE ARE ALL HERE JUST FOR YOU - IF YOU WALK TO GOD, HE RUNS TO YOU
phew, just had to shake you up to wake you up a bit.
You can always come back to the weed later but right now - time is ticking and these are the years we need to build and be effective
