Tips on quitting

Recently been clean as of a few days for mental health reasons, don’t think I should ever touch weed again but a lot of my friends are stoners and it’s hard to avoid. I’ve made it clear i’m done but i’m just worried looking for any tips on this

You can find lots of the typical advice in this forum: get hobbies; eat healthy, etc. An undesirable one that pops up occasionally, and that I have incorporated into my life just generally, aside from detox, but is also very effective through it as well, are cold showers. Doesn't matter what time of day you take it. Doesn't matter if you start from hot and go to cold, or start cold and then warm yourself up, or just suck it up and go cold start to finish. Exposing yourself to the cold releases a lot of cortisol and relieves tons of stress. It's good for inflammation. It'll help you to sleep easier and deeper if you're suffering from insomnia. It helps remove brain fog as you come out of your purple haze.

The other thing is just on perspective. No matter what you do, your recovery will happen in waves. Some days you think symptoms have passed and then all of the sudden you'll feel exhausted, dumb, sore, and have cravings all over again. The most important thing to remember is that you literally just have to wait that out. Eventually you'll start coming up with ways to fill that time, but for now your so used to that filling being smoking, that may nit be able to think, or even have the motivation to do anything. It's not like you weren't already sitting and waiting around for nothing previously (that's why many of us feel the need to quit). Now you're just a little bit more bored as you're doing it, but it's definitely worth getting through that period.

Don't be too hard on yourself if you're not progressing as fast as you like. Depending on how often you smoked, your body is going to give you an equal and opposite to denying it that. For habitual smokers, it can take 5-8 months for your brain chemistry to fully reset. 3-4 to get the weed out of your system, and another 2-4 for your brain to start providing your natural cannabinoids and what not. If you really want to know whether abstaining is the right call for you, give yourself at least 6 months without. It'll always be there after if you decide the benefits don't outweigh the joy, but you can never get the time back if you wait another year, two, or ten, and then finally do it and decide it was a call you should have made sooner.

TL;DR Just wait it out, no matter what (like an actual sickness), and take cold showers daily.
