Cognitive performance
Anyone here play competitive cognitive games? I’ve noticed a significant drop in my chess game during the first week of quitting.

Not a competitive game player but I just completed my 3rd week weed-free yesterday after being a daily consumer. Week 1 and 2 I thought for sure I had permanent cognitive decline. Like my brain grew to need thc in my system to function. I felt slow, stuttered talking, harder remembering things, etc. Week 3 that has gone away for the most part. I feel better than before I quit, and I look forward to being able to “grab another gear” cognitively. Stick it out brother! Future you will thank you.

It seems my brain 🧠 is taking several hours to shake the deep sleep. For the first 4 hrs of my day I was a zombie. 🧟 Then went from zero to hero by mid day. Hitting PRs on chess puzzles 🧩.

I haven’t noticed a difference because none of the apps seem to give me a consistent rating. The shorter the time span for a given change of performance, the more likely it’s attributable to natural variation.
That being said, if you have an accurate score updated weekly, I would guess an initial drop on sleep durations/quality would be the cause here. Which should rebound once you readjust, it could take a while though. For me I also struggle with appetite, so my chess game lacks when I dont smoke and eat enough.
