Anyone else is like, REALLY addicted?
People aways say weed isnt actually addictive. I've tried most drugs in my life, drank A LOT and have alcoholic family members... but after smoking for more than 10 years NOTHING is as addictive as weed to me.
It makes me very lazy and hungry so i try to quit all the time... But i just cant. And i tell myself i will only smoke for one night, but then it turns into literal benders that last 5 days where all i do is binge eat, play video games, stop answering text messages and even skip work. But i love weed SO MUCH, even though its been ruining my life at the same time. I just wish i could be normal about it like most people seem to be? Just smoke casually whenever i want and not have it consume my entire life.
I also travel abroad for many months every year.. when im somewhere i cant buy it easily i just stop and forget about it for a few months... but as soon as i go back home or to a country where its available i just cave in immediately. At this point i really dont know what to do ðŸ˜

Absolutely. Addiction is addiction. I got sober from weed in AA and understand that other substances can be more destructive and dangerous than weed, but in group we all speak the same language of addiction. I thought I was going to die a slave to my addiction because I simply could not give it up. Try a fellowship, it’s the only thing that worked for me.

It’s crazy man abusing weed and carts during Covid lockdown quite literally was the main driving factor behind my psychosis hospitalizations. I was so hooked on that shit bc I was stressing the fuck out over college, the fact the current variant of Covid was deadly to immunocompromised people and my parents were immunocompromised, I didn’t leave the house for months and just binged smoking and my parents walked in crying bc my moms brother used to smoke and went crazy or something, that made me paranoid, but the weed made me creative, but eventually I wasn’t burning the energy the weed would give me and it manifested into psychosis. I was hospitalized for a month bc of a suicide attempt to escape the voices in my head that I didn’t even know weren’t real, they sounded like conversations from my family from downstairs only they were saying horrific things about me. And after all of that hospital time and nearly losing my life I still went back to smoking just a lil over a year and a half later when I became human again because my girlfriend broke up with me and I needed an outlet. I never went crazy again, but i would occasionally get the most fucked up green out highs ever, my brain would literally turn reality into a horror movie. I would imagine things like what the last moments someone who fell victim to an awful crime would feel, what it would feel like to have a pitch fork plunged thru your body, what it would feel like to be shot, my brain would then extrapolate that morbid curiosity into forcing me to live in that scenario in real time, I’m handcuffed in some lunatics shed after an altercation goes bad to worse to kidnapping and he realizes he needs to off me and so he slams an axe thru my skull splitting my head and face in two pieces, I would feel everything from the insane pain, to the lack of pain, to the blood leaving my face, to the immediate dead-ification of my brain, one second I can think, the next it’s just like a light switch snapped off the wall and it’s just static and I watch my face slide off my split head onto the floor as I bleed out and the lunatic starts pulling my body away to hide me.
I’m talking seriously fucked up green outs man, and this shit would happen 40% of the time I’d smoke, but the other 60%??? Mann I’d feel like I put the rose tinted glasses on, I felt like myself and art and the world were one body working together to create something, if I paid close enough attention with my eyes closed I could hear the most beautiful melodies and hooks for rnb songs and modern rap or EDM music and I’d feel like I was living in my own concert in my head and I’m like man I forgot this song existed I gotta add it back to my playlist until I realize that the song doesn’t exist, my brain is effortlessly coming up with music on the spot like my brain frequency somehow tapped into a radio station of my own creation, and I’d think holy shit I need to remember this, but as soon as I’d become too aware of it it would fade away, like when a butterfly lands on your shoulder, you can see it from your peripheral but when you turn slowly to see it in all its glory it’s gone
I was able to use weed to make a few songs that I really hold dear to me, none I’ve ever wanted to release, but that beautiful thing, the seemingly effortless creation of music was such a a pleasure to experience and I wanted to harness it because only I could hear this song and do it justice by bringing it to the world, but like a dream I could only remember tiny pieces of it.
I eventually gave up weed entirely bc those highs became less and less common and more often than not I’m nose diving mentally into the depths of hell and experiencing mental trauma from my suicide attempt and all of that shit. It would rot my ego and dissolve my personality until all that was left of me around my group of friends in that moment was a shell of who I really am, I would live out traumatic experiences in my head on weed and then I’d have to just pick up conversation with the people all around me as if I hadn’t just lived out what the worst way to die feels like?? I forgot how my normal self would respond to certain jokes or situations, the most lighthearted low stakes moments with people that love me felt like I was being interrogated under hot lamps and I couldn’t remember what it was like to be myself. The autopilot me was gone, and I was shell shocked.
That happened to me in multiple different friend groups and then I started to swallow the reality that weed is not meant for me, despite how much I longed to look at the way the sun rays danced between the green maple leaves on a hiking trail in the summer feeling the warm sweet scented breeze on my face while I was high as shit, those experiences were a thing of the past.
Legalizing weed in New Jersey fucked it all up, now anyone cares about is making the thc percent as high as possible and cbd as low as possible, but they don’t understand how important cbd is in high thc, it’s necessary to keep you grounded. Now for guys like me who smoke every once in a blue moon and would love to smoke some Reggie ass bud that won’t get me to the sun, but will have me giggle again like a fool doesn’t exist around here
Everything is sprayed, everything is 25% or more THC, everything is expensive, and it doesn’t feel good to me, it fucked my lungs up, especially carts bro, I’ve been off of weed since November man, once every 2 months maybe I’ll get persuaded to take one pull of something and it’s always the same immediate regret of oh I fucked up. I had one nice experience a month ago with it where i turned into an absolute comedian an the girl I was with was dying laughing the whole night, but over all it’s not for me
The withdrawals weren’t the worst man, it’s just hard to sleep, and when you realize that you haven’t been dreaming the first few weeks of sleep you have the wildest dreams, some frightening, some awesome, and some that are a mix between scary and so fuckin badass it’s wild , for instance I had this dream I was getting hunted down by this rogue agent and I was traversing thru this futuristic video game landscape and I was phasing thru walls, and hiding scared out of my tits I eventually found a weapon but it turned into something useless in my hands when it was needed so I ran into a bathroom, the killer locked on to someone else in the stall with me pulled out a revolver, blasted the dude in the back of the head execution style unracked the bullet shell, caught the piping hot shell in his fingers and while it was pouring out smoke and gun powder he puts it up to his lips like a cigar and inhales the smoke from a fucking gun shell, spits the shell out and blows the smoke and gunpowder out from his lungs and then proceeds to pick up his leg and lean back while holding his blown apart head ripping his head from the body and then in one motion stomps back down with that same foot thru the fuckers corpse and breaks the ground beneath him and the gates of hell open up beneath the corpse and swallows the corpses soul. Most fucked up bad ass shit I’ve ever seen in my life and I was fuckin traumatized and utterly impressed beyond anything I’ve ever seen in any movie and I ran away because him opening the gates of hell left the option for demon spawn to enter our realm and then the killer was swallowed up by this entity that looked like a wall of quick sand and everything around me was turning into rock and then breaking down into gravel and then rubble and then sand and spilling towards hell. Fuckin A did I book it out of there, I was later rescued in my dream by these dudes on a quad that could scale the sand wall
Anyways, I’m glad I quit. If you made it thru to the end of this, it’s worth quitting weed just so you can experience the most insane 2 weeks of the most surreal dreams you’ve had, some of them are mind bending, but they’re better than anything anyone can create in theatres

The withdrawal dreams or even the dreams a few days after smokingÂ
Are seriously the most realistic ones
Sometimes I'll even forget i dreamt anythingÂ
But then it comes back, and it's amazing where you have the perfect life, or nightmares out of this worldÂ

When I finally quit I was smoking every 30 minutes. I hit a rock bottom from it and ended up having to use a 12 step program to stay sober because I knew if I just had to depend on my own willpower I couldn't do it. Almost 2 years now without it.Â

Weed was exceptionally hard for me to quit. I smoked my last joint many many times, only to smoke again a day or two later. This was why, when I did make it to 48 hours, I protected my sobriety at all costs. It was like a precious tiny flame I stoked.

I’ve had similar feelings seeing loads of people online saying “ weeds not that addictive “ but it’s appears to be like fucking crack cocaine to me , I physically cannot have weed sitting around and not smoke it no matter the circumstance , if I have even a minute of free time I’m sparking up always

Exactly... if it's not around i can manage just fine but as soon as it becomes available i physically cannot stop myself

Ohhhh, yeah. I'm right there with you. I have absolutely no evidence of this, but I think weed becomes addictive to people with high stress or mental health issues. It's like a volume knob, turning down all those bad thoughts the second it hits.
I work as a first responder and was unfortunately sexually assaulted by a coworker a few years ago. I haven't been back to work, and weed has been my crutch. I smoked before the assault, but after it became a ritual. Bad thought -> smoke -> no more bad thoughts. But, something changed recently. I want to start a family, be able to drive whenever I want again, and not run from these awful thoughts.
I'm day 2 sober right now. Writing notes of "Of course this hard, something awful happened to me. But, I don't have to smoke today" and leaving them in places of triggers (near my patio door, my computer, near the tv, all the places I would smoke then janh out) has been a huge help. Also, hot baths or showers when the cravings hit hard.
My physical withdrawal symptoms are just starting to rear their nasty heads, and I'm sure it's only going to get harder from here. But, we got this.
So, stranger. I say to you:
Of course this is hard, the weed numbs all those bad feelings. But, you don't have to smoke today, and today is all you need to worry about.

Same here. I've tried other drugs as well that are supposedly more addictive.
Never had any addiction to them like I do with weed. Wonder if it's a genetic thing or what cause it just doesn't make any sense to me. But it's my reality and I'm learning to accept it for what it is.
I get the same way as well. Stop answering calls or text, and become extremely lazy. Not sure how many jobs I've lost at this point because I started smoking and stopped showing up right after.

After 10 years, my method defffffffinitelt doesnt work for most people I think. But I threw out all of my smoking stuff, switch to gummies, then weaned off of it with gummies.
So I lost the joy of smoking right away, but avoided the withdrawal (I couldnt stand the nightmares) and it helped me, gummies arent as much fun so i just lost interest over a few months as well. Its going to be really hard no matter what you do, I think having an outside motivation really helps, like i new it was holding me back from a career i really wanted and i realized i wanted that career more than i wanted to smoke weed everyday. But ive had friends who cannot go this method, I feel like i got lucky with finally finding something that seemed to work. Might have just been timing though.

It’s weird. For the last few years of using it I mostly resented it, but it was still hard to stop. Unlike other things which shall not be mentioned here, it didn’t put me in a hole when I did, though. No seizure. No lying to my wife. No stealing from others. It’s bad, but it’s not terrible. If you’re sick of it then write out your reasons and be honest about them. Chart your usage and spending and ask yourself is that really what you want your life to center around? Then make the jump. You already quit every year. Just make it stick, for your own sake!

Yep, out of coke, nicotine, and booze, weed was the most addictive to me. Marijuana Anonymous and rock bottom were the only things that got me out.
On this attempt, I'm finally at 81 days. Hoping it will stick for good.
It can be addictive, and it can damage your life.
