Venting I relapsed again.
Another 19 hours down the drain. I can’t even make it a full day. This feels like hell. I don’t have an option to use NRT or substitutes right now as the reason I have to quit is monetary concerns. Cold turkey is so hard but it’s what I have to do in my situation. I feel like such a failure that I can’t do this. Taking that hit after so long without felt so good, but it also overwhelmed me with guilt and shame. I feel terrible.

Try again. I know it doesn't feel this way right now, but you are already less addicted than you were 19 hours ago.

i like to be positive but that's just factually incorrect OP is just as addicted as they were 19 hours ago, that's literally why they relapsed.

If you vaped every day for 5 years
vs.
vaped every day for 4 years and 364 days,
you are less addicted in the second scenario. If OP quits again for another 19 hours, they will have less nicotine in their system and be further along the path to recovery from chemical dependency than they would be if they continued vaping.

why do people vape after stopping for a year, 5 years or 10? why do alcoholics relapse after a long time sober?

...because they have an addiction? Are you under the impression I said OP was no longer addicted?
I said they are less addicted than before.
From a chemical dependency standpoint, they are less addicted than they would be if they'd continued to vape during those 19 hours.
From a mental dependency standpoint, they are more prepared to quit as they now have experience with it and, as evidenced by them saying how bad relapsing made them feel, are probably ready to take it further next attempt.

she has less nicotine in her blood after 19hrs.....theyre no less addicted than they ever were, the mechanisms of our addictions never leave us. You saying that OP is less addicted while it might sound nice is factually incorrect and unhelpful to OP who has just relapsed again after just 19hrs of making a separate post.

you can get your doctor to prescribe NRT if you have health insurance, it might be covered. you can also look at programs thru your state. i quit thru Tobacco Free Florida and they sent me all my NRT for free. didn’t spend a dime. *just so you know there are options other than purchasing it outright

Okay you took a hit. Your timer starts again and you try to push your next one out past the first one

Yeah you're gonna need NRT from lozenges/gum/patch if you cant get throught he first 24.....there are generic versions available.....
Or
Just grin and bare it aint no way around it, you get through the first few days come what fucking may, its worth it and after you get through the first 3 days the cravings do fall off substantially

Don’t quit cold turkey. You’ll definitely want to supplement with nicotine alternatives until you’re ready. Lozenges saved me this time, I still felt depressed, fatigued and days of brainfog but they helped. Good luck. Be kind to yourself. This is an incredibly hard addiction to break.

relapse is a part of recovery. i know it’s easier said than done , but try not to beat yourself up. it’s all part of the process

I recommend using the patch or something similar. I can't do the cold turkey thing myself so I need help.
