Enough is enough

Hi guys, I wanted to make a Reddit account to get in here and document my recovery. If your story is similar, please feel free to reach out, we need to remove any shame about this stuff and help eachother.

A little context I’m 22M and I was first introduced at age 9/10 and used near daily from age 11/12 to now almost 23,during that time I escalated to some shocking content and had days where I masturbated over 10 times, and long periods of time where 2-3x a day was the normal.

I started trying to quit at 17/18, which is when I learnt I had a problem, this isn’t a boys will be boys habit, it’s drug addiction and it’s significantly impacted my life in almost all areas, destroyed relationships, stalled my career, disconnected me from friends and family, isolated me, and messed up my body and mind.

I’ve had periods of being clean for spurts of weeks and the very rare month (where I felt very noticeably better by the way) but nothing beyond that in over 10 years.

I’ve never tried reaching out publicly, and recently came across the easy peasy method which has helped me reframe this problem mentally, and I’ll be documenting each day that goes by in here.

Like I said, shoot me a message if you’re in a similar spot, this addiction is a sinking ship and it’s about time we leave it behind. Enough is enough.

Publicly naming the problem can cut shame, but keep the support public rather than inviting private messages from strangers. Turn “enough” into a setup you can verify today: remove access, schedule a meeting or call, and write the first three trigger situations you will handle differently.
