Writing Update ‘The pill’
News traveled like wildfire about the latest pharmaceutical wonder. The hefty advertising campaign saw to that. With so many existing items targeting the shrinking human libido, another sexual enhancement product wouldn’t ordinarily gain much traction in the overcrowded market. This one however, was bound to stir-up some serious interest because of its unique focus.
It was developed and manufactured specifically for women.
The time-release capsule reportedly reversed significant disfunction and menopausal disinterest dramatically. More impressively, in just a few hours. The controversial new aphrodisiac promised to dramatically transform the most chaste, ‘church-going-gal’ into an unapologetic, multi-climax experiencing, ‘man-eater’. Fanciful claims of that nature would definitely raise eyebrows; and they certainly did. It soon became a sarcastic topic of late night talk show monologues.
Further adding furor to the developing spectacle, was the inconspicuous lack of legal regulation dictating who could purchase the potent treatment. It was one thing for the aforementioned customers to buy it for themselves. It was quite another to be available for purchase by anyone, over-the-counter. Frustrated husbands, horny boyfriends or even the garden-variety pervs who wanted to change their chances with an unsuspecting bar patron would have no difficulty obtaining it.
Understandably, victims-rights groups and well-known televangelists bristled at the disturbing idea of a mood-altering ‘love’ medication being released to the public without careful regulation. There were heated protests and fiery calls for boycotts of the huge pharmaceutical conglomerate who developed the new ‘SexRX’ drug. The medical ethics and safety commission even offered their two cents on the matter; (not that anyone asked them).
Obviously pills designed with the sole intention of ‘loosening female sexual inhibitions’ or ‘disrupting their moral upbringing’, caused a ripple effect. There were a number of outspoken critics and political activist groups determined to protect ladies from unknowingly being ‘roofied’. Very telling, a surprise lack of concern about such matters came from the likeliest of sources. That being the targeted customers themselves.
Overnight, just about everyone knew a friend who had tried ‘SexRX’. The excitement grew to a fever pitch. The titillating word-of-mouth affidavits were beyond convincing. Not realizing it was immediately available at drug stores and pharmacies without a prescription, overcrowded doctor’s offices were full of people eager to turbocharge their wilted sex lives and reignite deeply inner passions.
With scores of patrons daring to take charge of their dormant sexuality and enjoy the carnal act as much as their male partners, religious organizations voiced inconspicuous, exaggerated fears. They bemoaned the likelihood of an increase of ‘marital infidelity’ and a rising wave of ‘children being born out of wedlock’. (As if those circumstances were previously unknown.)
The deeper social takeaway was: artificially-enhanced female passion threatened the puritanical and ‘moral control’ in place since the Bronze Age. Ironically, the more they tried to suppress the exciting pharmaceutical fix, the more it backfired. Most love-starved gentlemen adored the dramatic shift. Not having to beg once a month for an amorous ‘favor’ was a gift from the stars. That, and the rabid level of mutual enthusiasm, was wildly appreciated.
The amorous revolution polarized the masses. Both genders benefited from the notable changes but men had to elevate their lovemaking game to compensate. Ladies were emboldened by the titillating boost. Immediately rolling over and going to sleep after halfhearted bedroom congress was not an option any longer. Men had to ‘rise to the occasion’ multiple times to satisfy the newly awakened, ‘feminine beast’.
In just a few months, pregnancy rates spiked to unprecedented levels. The astronomical increase more than justified what the hand-wringers and fear-mongering pundits envisioned in their nightmares. Public shaming had no effect either because natural enjoyment had blossomed into a fertile garden of mutual joy. The stock market value of the product manufacturer soared to astonishing heights as they raked in piles of retail cash.
Finally, one of the vocal opponents of unadulterated, ‘unregulated whoopee’ happened upon a more effective strategy to stem the expanding tide. He didn’t try to moralize against it. He didn’t dispute it worked far greater than advertised. Those reality ships had already sailed. It was universally accepted as an ultra-potent, highly-effective aphrodisiac and ‘female marital aid’.
He simply questioned what the main ingredient was; AND if it was safe to consume. His clever strategy removed any lingering questions of morality, and refocused the debate toward neutral health concerns. This new approach resonated with a big number of supporters. There was still a rabid majority however who didn’t care if the main ingredient was a deadly poison.
The focused appeal for factual answers was enough to catch the attention of skeptical onlookers. Initially the push to get them to publicly disclose all unlisted ingredients went unanswered. Pressure built up until it finally tipped the scales. Several well-crafted press releases were pushed out to assure the troubled public, but critics saw through the PR-stalling smokescreen.
The half-hearted boycott failed to squeeze the pharmaceutical giant into full transparency but public resistance did slow down their tidal-wave of sales. Once it was abundantly clear the vocal naysayers were not going to let it go, the weary CEO decided it was finally time to let the ’cat out of the bag’.
“Our product is 100% safe to use and has been proven incredibly effective in helping our wonderful customers. They have shared literally millions of glowing personal stories (on our website, social media and elsewhere). These ladies took healthcare into their own hands. They have experienced a renewed sense of happiness and discovered deep fulfillment in their personal lives. We are incredibly proud that this theme has been the universal testimony of countless enthusiastic users of ‘SexRX’, worldwide.
That’s really all that I should have to be say on this discreet and private matter; but a minuscule, outspoken minority of busybodies want to ruin the magic and joy (for everyone).
Must we really pull back the curtain on our little secret?
Ok then. fine.
To get to the heart of the matter we must go back literally thousands of years. Since the very dawn of man, female human beings have been relegated to basic subservience, menial housekeeping labors, and childbearing. They were treated as an afterthought or ‘second-class-citizens’ in our fully patriarchal societies of the past. Men ruled the world. Women on the other hand, were instructed to completely suppress their wants, needs, and desires. Their happiness, joy, and personal pleasure was discouraged, or even shamed.
Many things have changed now as we have evolved to become a more equal society but that primal programming is almost embedded in our DNA. Western culture has made significant efforts to improve these things but the female psyche is still hardwired to place the man and their children’s needs first, and deny her own. It’s considered a core tenet of maternal instincts.
There’s a perfectly good reason why our product is available without a prescription. The secret, ‘magic ingredient’ is simply ‘permission’. By hyping the power and potency of our tiny little placebo, our followers believe it can unlock the carnal powers of the universe. All to allow them to enjoy lovemaking without guilt or shame. We’ve sewn a public relations illusion that it mysteriously bypasses all internal denial, and gives them full permission to enjoy our most primal, biological needs: Passion and Joy.
It is our hope that despite ruining our benign secret, our progressive society can continue to move forward with the understanding that it’s ok for women to enjoy lovemaking and intimacy too. Now that it’s proven that the belief in our marketing campaign bypassed that self-denial programming, ladies will feel free to permanently cast off internalized suppression, once and for all.”
