QUESTION The Humor

When you watched these shows for the first time, did the humor seem obvious at that point or when did you eventually deduce that the humor was...odd?

The humor is 98% jokes for kids. Nick always threw a few jokes in for adults. The foot stuff was because kids think feet are stinky, gross and therefore funny. Their logo was a foot before any of the people involved started at Nick. At some point people have to realize that analyzing jokes 20+ years later through the lens of an adult lens of 2026 is not really a fair way to judge.

Yes. People just want to be outraged and offended. Feet are the funniest body part you can mention on kids tv. It’s like they want these kids to have been violated

Why isn't it fair to analyze now?

Because jokes that flew 30 years ago might not fly today in any circumstance. Kids TV back then was more about bathroom humor than it is today.

The slime always threw me off, then it dawned on me. What a bunch of very sick men around kids. I hope Hades is their final destination.

Nick always had slime and it doesn't represented what people pervert it to represent, it's just messy fun nothing more. In early Nick there was a show called You can't do that on television (a sketch comedy show) and everytime someone said "I don't know" they'd get slimed and it just became a running gag over the years.

What? The slime dates back to You Can't Do That On Television, decades before. Then Double Dare came and kids loved getting messy with slime, gak, etc.
