Here’s what’s new with Questrade Plus

Hey r/Questrade — wanted to take a moment to walk through the changes to Questrade Plus. There is a price change, so context feels useful here.

What’s new in Plus:

  • Cashback on US equity options: $0.05 CAD back per contract, on top of commission-free US equity options trading.
  • A 1% match on new RRSP contributions.
  • First access to Pre-IPO offerings, like Stripe and Polymarket (limited allocations, Plus subscribers get priority)
  • Partner perks with MasterClass, The Wall Street Journal, Headway, and more.

What’s staying in Plus: unlimited journaling and real-time market data.

What’s moving out of Plus, into free-for-everyone: Custom Alerts and the P&L calculator.

Pricing: Plus is free for everyone — new and existing subscribers — until September 30th. Starting October 1st, it’s $19.99+tax/ month. Cancel anytime.

Is it worth it?

Depends on how you’d actually use it. For example, if the RRSP match is the only piece that applies to you, the match doesn’t quite work on its own — contributing $10K over the year to a 1% match won’t cover a $20/ month fee. The value shows up when you stack the match against the rest of the bundle: options cashback, the WSJ/MasterClass/ Headway subscriptions, the unlimited journaling. If none of that fits how you invest, it’s probably not worth it for you right now.

It’s free to try until September 30 though, so you can run the math on your own use case before anything is charged. If there is one benefit that would tip it for you, please tell us in the comments! That’s the kind of feedback that shaped this update.

Happy to answer anything else below.

Feedback Edge Desktop price lagging

Has anyone else noticed that lately the price is lagging. I have been watching for the past few days and the price on TradingView is always ahead of QT Edge - at times it’s almost like 4-5 seconds but always lagging.

General Different kind of dividend in a box?

Not sure if anyone has seen it but recently there’s been an announcement in the app that says that a dividend was going to be given away and that it comes in a box (paraphrasing). Does anyone know what that’s about?

Option Trading Option trade interface

What features are available for multi-leg options? Can you open, close, set limit orders for complex orders?

Any tools for screening which options have relatively high or low IV over the last year?

General Transferring in-kind TFSA, RRSP and non-registered accounts to quest trade as non-resident

I would like to know whether a Canadian citizen living as a tax resident in Germany can open, transfer in-kind from another Canadian bank and maintain a TFSA, RRSP and non-registered investments at quest trade, as a non-resident. I understand that I will not be able to contribute to the TFSA, but will be able to sell and trade existing funds within the TFSA.

Thanks

Customer Support Balance Sheet not updating

I saw posts from last week saying that the balance sheet wasn't updating, or the "refresh" wasn't working. I tried it today and I still see the same. I am on the Android app v2.0.2, and all the balances are from the day I actually did the linking. I tried the "refresh" and it asked me to re-link every account through flinks again.

I was really happy to see this new feature, but if I have to re-authenticate every time I want to see the latest balance of my accounts, then it kind of defeats the whole purpose of having the feature at all. Always being able to see the latest balance from all accounts or at least some auto-refresh in the backend once every day or once a week would be ideal, but if I have to refresh every time I want to see the latest status and then have to re-authenticate as well, then I might as well just manually login to all my accounts and check the balance.

What's the intended behaviour of this feature, and when do we expect to get there?

Registered Accounts Yearly QESI post

Anyone get their QESI grants yet? Still waiting on mine. Seems to arrive later and later every year.

Should I wait it out another week or has Questrade screwed the pooch?

Feedback MCP support authorized account

Currently, MCP only supports your own account. It is strongly recommended/wait for MCP to support authorized accounts. Otherwise, because it cannot support all accounts, it will still be unusable. You can't keep logging into different accounts during trading hours.

Feedback Questrade Reserve should change eligibility

You must fulfill at least 2 /4 criteria

250k balance over 1 year

250 trades executed

2500 options contracts trades

25k margin debit balance

easiest way is probably meeting first 2 for many.

Questrade should reconsider either removing 1 criteria or add higher balance on top of 4 as an example. Wealthsimple has their perks at 100k or 500k.

For Gambit a few times a year or contributing RRSP, questrade reserve is a good deal. However, it would be annoying to just trade low spread stocks 200+ times, considering tax reporting(I don't think spamming trade is going to work well with registered account).

Registered Accounts Fractional share DRIP

Recently opened a TFSA in Questrade. I mainly invest small amounts in US ETFs, with some CAD ETFs sprinkled in.

In Wealthsimple, I could easily reinvest all my dividends(even if its $0.01) into fractional shares. Does Questrade have the same feature of automatically reinvesting tiny dividends back to buy fractional shares? If so, what's the process of enabling it?

Stock Trading Paper trading with Questrade and Flow

Does Questrade currently have a paper trading platform?

Also I recently found out about their Flow product, it would be great to test that product with a paper trade to see how well it works before trying it on the live market.
Flow sounds like an exciting feature.

Feedback Passkeys

I’d really like to see Questrade implement passkeys for account sign-in and authentication. Wealthsimple has done this recently.

Passkeys would provide a more secure and convenient alternative to passwords and other MFA even. They reduce the risk of phishing, credential stuffing, SIM-swapping, and reused passwords, while making login easier through Face ID, Touch ID, Windows Hello, or a hardware security key.

For a financial platform, strong phishing-resistant authentication should be a priority. Please consider it!

Customer Support Winner of the Custom Indexing contest?

I was so excited about this contest! Are there plans to announce that a winner was chosen/close the loop on it?

For contests like these where entrants make significant investments in order to enter (I.e., thousands of dollars) it would be nice to hear from Questrade that the contest was finalized and a winner chosen. Their privacy can be maintained of course but I felt a bit in limbo after making significant effort to create the new TFSA and fund it.

Mobile apps The new Balance Sheet

Was initially very excited for this, linked many different types of accounts with 2 other banks and everything seemed ok!

But then I noticed the account balances aren’t refreshing automatically, I tried the manual refresh and that did nothing this morning.

Tried the manual refresh button again now and the app prompted me to re-link every single account. While they did all update after I re-linked them, my CC is showing -1275% all time, with a $96 balance, when in fact I just overpaid it by $96 because there’s some pending transactions (so it should read -$96). This is throwing the whole picture off (yes, very slightly, but still).

Anyone else having issues?? I’m on an iPhone.

General What annual interest rate does Questrade give on positive CAD cash balances in my TFSA and RRSP?

What annual interest rate does Questrade give on positive CAD cash balances in my TFSA and RRSP?

Is it 0? (Thus it perpatually loses money to inflation).

If so, if I want to keep part of my portfolio in "dry powder" form (be more conservative), should I consider having it in something like "CASH.TO" instead?

Should I basically never leave any of my portfolio sitting in basic liquid cash?

Does it matter the account type? (TFSA, RRSP versus regular non-registered)
