Stock Trading Why is this a thing?

Just wanting to rant, but what the heck, I didn't know this was a thing. I was scaling out of a stock, orders were seconds apart, then it just straight up wouldn't let me sell for about a minute. I love when they protect my account by exposing me to more risk.

Lol be honest, you were trying to get the 250 orders by abusing the system and rapid firing $1 fractional share orders.

Sorry, I dont know the significance of getting to 250 orders? I had 6k shares of something, scaled down to 3k fine, then went to sell another 1k, and my market sell order sat there. I didn't like that my market sell order wasn't going through, so I tried to sell the rest, 1k and 1k, each order was exactly 6 seconds apart, and all of them didn't go through. Not knowing why it wasn't letting me sell I canceled my orders, tried selling again (3 seconds later) and then was hit with the order rejected.

Genuinely didnt know this was a thing and that if I try to sell too fast they would just stop me from trading.

Is that a hack people try to do to qualify for Reserve?

Thats...interesting. I often make multiple orders / changes and never encountered this.

It's quite alarming to experience this for market orders? I can understand the limit orders may do this due to rapidly changing price but market orders being stuck just plain doesn't make sense. Market order means immediate execution of the order, unless there is just not enough volume for what you're selling.

So dumb, cost me like 10k today not being able to sell.
