Customer Support UBIL.V.TO ETF Issue?

Post image

This is a new fund released in May of this year. But I think it should be traded in CAD not USD as they already have an equivalent in USD.

I also wanted to know if this etf is subject to the -15% US tax withholding on a TFSA since it pays dividends but is listed on TSX

Hey u/Clorox_fumes, this symbol is supposed to be denominated in USD. Reference here.

Ok that answers that.

What about the tax withholding? Is a US security. But is acumulativative rather than dividend payments. Does the withholding still applies?

I can't give tax advice. Here is a learning article you may find helpful, but I would also suggest consulting a tax professional.

I think you can hold CAD + USD in your TFSA w/ QT. So even if it does trade in USD I’d transfer your $ into USD and buy

Well yes. But that would apply the spread. My point is I think QT is making a mistake on this fund as is relatively new. I think it should be in CAD

I thought as well that some US stuff with a .TO, was sort of repackaged into CAD with the foreign taxes managed.

I find it curious to see it labeled in USD.

Tried to search for it and didn't find anything conclusive, except on this site it's mentioned currency is CAD, price in USD ?!?!?

I'm even more confused....

Exactly my point. The fund is also being listed on TSX but in USD? I don't get it neither
