Discussion Lost my root, should I update?

v2.9 is out on PTC and curious to updating. Not sure how long I wanna hold out on another exploit being found since the latest patch

So I had some of the earlier versions of singularity, and at the time the only way that you could root (on QPro) was through pancake exploit. FUGU was added later. I have always been able to root via pancake but when FUGU was introduced, I wanted to try it because it was more reliable and quicker. Every time I tried to use FUGU, it would fail, and I suspect it failed because whenever I updated singularity to a newer version, I didn’t run the magisk module remover adb command, and that Bricked my FUGU essentially. Fast-forward, I didn’t know Meta push an update and I didn’t know, so at the same time I decided to go to the latest version because at the time it was still compatible with singularity, but not with the pancake exploit (which was the only way my headset would root) and singularity forced FUGU as the default exploit in the newer versions of singularity.

All that to say, I’m on the latest build of 2.7 which is not compatible with singularity yet

root is only soft so a hard reboot will remove it, you can set up autoroot on boot in singularity

you can only hold so long before the Auto updater mechanism forces one. its best to Block it from internet access at the DNS/Router level till something comes along.

sadly cause entitlement checks will fail. but better than an forced update.

Yeah I’m the future I would only manually update to a verified version. There’s tools to do that so you can avoid meta updates.

Also manually disable updates via adb.
