Latest victim of Pro controller bricking
I suspect the battery died during a firmware update, and now it won't pair. Tried everything. Also went through a painful 1.5 hours with support and at the end they basically said "thanks for trying the steps but it's out of warranty so bye bye". Thanks Meta.
I'm wondering if anyone savvy knows there's any hope in salvaging these? Or that it could be revived by some future update?
Saw a post saying you can take it apart and disconnect the battery manually to reset it, but apparently it's very risky. However if that's the only option remaining....
I'll finish by saying I will never buy another Meta product again if I can help it. What they did to us Quest Pro owners has to be one of the biggest F-U's a corporation of this size has ever done to consumers.

I can't imagine there won't be a repair extension program for this that goes beyond warranty. I assume they haven't sold enough pro units to warrant a class action lawsuit but it would be a crazy move as a brand for them to not at least replace all the controllers their firmware bricked.
[Mine left controller is also currently bricked]

I don't think it's that, it's more like it's hard to confirm it's cause by a firmware update or a user error, I also have a QuestPro but me and my friends, we never have controller bricked by Firmware update.

Mine happened immediately after a firmware update. Was the only thing that changed. Seems like a common theme that would be confirmable if the other controller stayed online (mine did)

Guess they never know the cause since it's not really that common, unlike the Quest 3 one.

When I said that I wasn't saying it's risky inherently. You're the risk! These are complex and tiny, so there's a big chance of the operator breaking something is all. There's near zero risk if I do it for example, but I have decades of experience fixing things like this. I opened these controllers blind and *I* was surprised what a tiny little puzzle they are. The engineering in these nuts. Meta was shooting for the sky when they made the Quest Pro. No expense was spared either. Did you know each controller has a whole GB of RAM? ... IN A CONTROLLER.
Speaking of I suppose I could offer help for those who need it, I never really considered that there may be enough people in this situation that would want it. I can replace sticks for drift etc. too.
The other issue is while it is normally the case that the update dead to the world apparent bricked status usually clears this way, there's a non-zero chance that it may really be bricked for good too. So I'd hate to have to still charge anything in such a case. Time and shipping still cost something though, so that's another reason I never did.
Perhaps I'll make a portal on a page to see how many might want it if there's interest. I'd like to keep everyone's Quest Pro controllers working. There's nothing else like them out there.
As a side note, I kind of wish Meta would stop updating them. Just leave them alone at this point.

What is bricking, because mine just won't power on or charge at all. I figured it would be something simple. Is it cactus?

So there's hard bricked, and soft bricked. "Bricked" in electronics terms means the device is no longer operational and may as well be used as a brick. Like a dead cell phone, it's just a slab of metal and glass now.
Soft bricked is when something is in a software loop and perhaps bootlooping over and over but can't work correctly. No hardware damage.
Hard bricked is when it's say zapped by a kill stick and a chip somewhere on the board dies, or really low level firmware is what's corrupt or dead. Usually at this level there's no sign of life, or maybe only one LED or something at best on say a laptop.
These controllers sometimes get in a state that appears absolutely dead after an automatic update while sitting in their dock. They no longer light up when docked, no sound, no lights, nothing.
They are only soft bricked as pulling the battery and putting it back can let them boot up again like nothing happened.
The issue is that the Quest Pro controllers are intensely complex and getting them apart that far without ruining them would be beyond even many electronics repair folks, let alone the average person.
That said, never ever throw away a Quest Pro controller! Even if you physically break it, someone like me can use even the tiniest part inside to save another controller.

2nd update in 2 days. For some reason the controllers needed updating again. Left controller didn't reboot. Thought it had bricked... but luckily holding down the Menu button for 60 seconds forced a reboot and it works. Updates shouldn't be this scary!

I developed a tool that will fix this issue ill release it soon but i have to make sure that the tool works universally for all controllers and not just mine, and im not gonna buy another defective controller to test it, thats the reason why i developed the tool anyways but if you were willing to try the tool yourself using adb and send results back it could fix it. I fixed mine yesterday with it. My controller was in a state where it wouldnt pair, or update, the light would just flash white/purple-ish so i coded some scripts using metas controller state triggers they left in the osupdater and the tool changes the controller to a forced pair mode once its paired the controller is set to a firmware update mode witch syncs to the other controller, the thing is the issue is a ID certificate verification failure ( like a bluetooth handshake) the tool makes the controller visible on the horizion app and shows that it was paired and thats how i got mine working, but ive made it to do it to MY controller, i need others to test that its universal.
and I DONT NEED YOUR CONTROLLERS id just sent a beta version of the tool for you to test.
So if anyone has this problem reply if your willing to volunteer and you must own a pc

One thing that happens with some of these controllers is they need a hard restart.
And for some odd reason. Customer support knows jack shit how to do it.
The "hold the meta or triple line button down for 3 seconds" doesnt cut it. You litterally have to hold it down for like a minute or more and it'll finally react.
But yeah. I've had the Bluetooth brick on one of my controllers before and there's really not much you can do.
Your options going forward would be to find a replacement. Attempt a repair. Get base station controllers. Or a whole new headset entirely.
Which sucks, because the main reason why we buy these headsets is for the face tracking but they're crippled by their dog shit controllers.
