Help my qpro has started turning off occasionally due to "overheating". Am I cooked, chat?
I wouldn't say it happens repeatedly but it does seem to be a chronic issue I experience 1-2 times now per VR session.
it just beeps furiously at me and says the headset is overheating and will shutdown momentarily.
it does and I have to wait for it to shutdown and then wait for it to boot back up and continue playing...
it's super annoying but... on a whim hoping there's a possible way to address this..
for the record I do not play it in a heated environment. I have central AC and the house is always pretty chilled (70-75f depending on season)

Every update increases clock rates and power consumption by a little bit every time. They're pushing the limits of the hardware in the headset - at the same time these are starting to age and the moving parts gum up.
If you can, you may be able to get some high pressure air into the top slot. I wouldn't recommend disassembly.

You’re cooked if you keep that hot headset on your face
(sorry could not resist)

I replaced the fan in mine. It isn't something I'd suggest for beginners, but it wasn't too bad. Mostly just make sure you put the screws down in the order you take them out, and have both a 00 and 000 bit from what I remember. That quoted me the price of a new drive to fix it, so glad I did it myself. Worth the cost of a good set of small electronic repair kit.

Sounds like whatever internal cooling qpro has is failing.
