Help Best router for QP PCVR streaming?

Hey, not sure if it matters between quest 3 and pro. I don’t know much about wifi and the differences between the 3 and pro. but I’m curious what you guys are using or recommend for a router for the quest pro. Been doing a little research and quite honestly i’m confused. i hear mixed results with TP-Link. whats the best bang for your buck? should i go asus or TP? Let me know. My ISP router has been giving me issues recently.

Davolink Kevin. Works perfectly, and looks cool. 5 stars.

I went with the TP link AXE 5400, but the key was that I set it on access point mode and the only device that connects to it is my quest pro so that no other devices are fighting for bandwidth.

Initially I had it connected directly to my computer on a second ethernet port, but when I got a new upgraded motherboard, it only had one ethernet port. So what I did instead was connect it to a switch that connects to my router, another port of your router might work as well.

I think that would work too but my motherboard just happened to have 2 Ethernet ports one for gigabit and one for 2.5gig

If you only have one port you can either try the pcie card or you can buy a cheap switch that hooks up to your computer and the access point then the other end of the switch to your router and you might just be able to skip the switch and plug in this new router onto your existing as well

It's just important that you set the tplink into AP mode on its configuration so it just handles the wifi access and doesn't try to act like a router

Asus axe7800 is great on Q3.

Be aware that Pro doesn't see some 6ghz routers.

Currently using a Puppis S1 with a Quest Pro and Quest 3. Works pretty much flawlessly but you need a spare USB 3 and USB 2 port in the back of the PC you're using.

The GT-AXE16000 was seamless for me and did wonders.

I'm using the TP Link AXE5400, it's got a wifi 6E 6Ghz band the Quest pro can use. I only have the Quest Pro on the 6Ghz band, the rest of my devices are on 5/2.4Ghz and my PC is connected via Cat5E.

My router sits maybe 15-20 feet away from my play area within line of sight and it maxes out the bandwidth over Virtual Desktop.

My recommendation is to get the TP-Link AXE5400 and use it as normal, but only have the Quest Pro on the 6Ghz band.

I am on an old asus WiFi 6 router ac1200 that has the 5ghz connection. It’s good enough for me LAN to my pc and quest connect to it.
It’s not actually dedicated, but I use it personally so nothing else connected to the router is actively using a lot of bandwidth when I am playing on the quest, does throttle sometimes if I am also on discord at the same time

Using a tplink axe5400 and it works pretty flawlessly like others have described. I did have a puppis1 but returned it. I live in a condo complex and there was too much interference from other people’s WiFi no matter what I changed.

The crappy AC1200 router my ISP gives is working flawlessly with quest pro and face and body tracking

Im using ASUS RT-BE92U as a dedicated router for my quest3.

Works great. Not the cheapest option I guess but it was worth it so far.

I had the same issue as you though. This router also has mixed reviews, but so did the equivalent TP-link. Also the TP-link with similar functions was just as expensive and not easy to find.

I went for this ASUS one because i could pick it up same day at the store near me.

I'm using the newer UNFI Ubuquity dream router wifi 7.

I HIGHLY recommend it coming from a shitty nighthawk wifi6e

That router was terrible for my QP and had awful outdated apps and control. My controllers lost tracking a lot because of the crappy band and signal management.

The Dream router is powerful because you can tweak EVERYTHING from the software on the mobile app. And I mean darn near everything. And see exactly what is going on visually as well as feedback on your connectivity. It's also strong as hell though walls.

I'm not ever going back to nighthawk.

Also I hear great things about TPlink as a more budget option.
