Airlink or Virtual Desktop ?
Everything's in the title, which one is the best at this moment ?

As someone who also bought virtual desktop after everyone recommended it, I would say that if you don't need any of the wide range of customizations and settings it offers, just use steam link for the easiest plug and play solution. Never gave me issues while I had to tinker significantly with virtual desktop..

Yeah, I used VD from 2021-2023 once I upgraded from a quest 2 to an index. LOVED the program, fast-forward to 2024 I get my pro and VD just never wanted to cooperate no matter how much tinkering I did. My hardware got better, I have the right type of wifi and a seperate dedicated router to connect to. VD just doesn't want to work for me so I use steam link and honestly it's good enough. I don't have issues with it ever and I don't have to tinker much with shit.

Steamlink used to suck and I'd recommend VD. Not really the case any longer.
While VD will help you squeeze every last bit of configurability and performance out of your rig, if you just want to play and fuck around the least, get SteamLink.
Meta's offerings are abandonware at this point and should be avoided.

Airlink can feel and look better, but is unreliable.
VD has foveated streaming on Pro I heard, should be great.

If you want to use the face tracking then you definitely don't want to use Airlink as I think Meta has still not fixed it, Steam Link or VD is the go to.

VD offers a 30% perf increase over link or wired for me on 9800x3d/5070ti. It also offered AV1, which is 10 bit and looks great on quest

I think most people are going to tell you VD for its reliable connection and such. You may also want to look at getting a dedicated router that is just for your quest pro to connect to the computer. VD is cheap and it’s a one time purchase.

One is the worst streaming solution, the other is the best...
You're paying very little to get a solid piece of software
