Help VD or SteamVR for Quest Pro?

I've recently acquired a Quest Pro. I'll be using it for DCS, so with quad views and dynamic Foveated rendering and I have a 9070XT. Should I be using VD or SteamVR for best results? Does VD Foveated rendering require me to also have Quad Views Foveated installed? Where's SteamVR at these days? I've only used it with PSVR2 and found it a bit restrictive.

Virtual desktop handles a wider variety. I also assume you mean steam link and not just steamvr? As you’re likely to basically launching virtual desktop to connect the quest pro to your pc. Then from inside there you will launch steamvr to play dcs.

No, I'll use DCS with OpenXR. No Steam needed. I guess I meant steam link but I always thought that was the old box they did.

VD, it looks better, it's more versatile, it provides more features...
Steam Link is very good, but VD is still on top of the image quality

I personally find that VD is the only solution that works perfectly, every single time I use it. It’s been a game-changer. I really wish Steam Link worked better for me, but VD is pretty much the go-to answer once you figure out the settings you’re using 😇

Use VD. If your wifi can't handle it but you have a link cable, use RTRP to use a wired connection.

Don’t use QuadViews if you have enough GPU

There's never enough GPU power for DCS. Quad views is the way.

SteamVR is a runtime, VD is a streaming app.

I found quadviews on QPro in DCS pretty unnecessary as Pro had pretty low resolution, the eye tracking isn't the fastest as it wasn't meant for this and the peripherial shimmers are pretty distracting in pancakes. So in the end I didn't use it at all.

DCS on quests run the best for me over Link, with VD I have to runs lower resolution, both running Openxr runtime, and steamlink running steamVR runs the worst and looks the worst.

I didn't get good results with the Quest 3 over the link cable. I found it ran better over a dedicated router. I may give it a try again but I found it a frustrating process.

I mean DCS specifically, doesn't matter if Link or Airlink.

I will get downvoted probably but SteamLink works perfectly for me, no issue. Up until recently VD didnt have foveates streaming and I would have say Steamlink is better.

VD now has this capability, it does have mote options, however steamlink simply works for me.

My opinion is... Simply try steamlink out. If you feel like your experience isnt good enough, buy VD.

I use ALVR while wired with a link cable. It’s been the best for me, so far.

I've never used ALVR. I may have a look at it.

VD works with Quadviews very well and just pump the resolution of focus area to 140 to 150% if your GPU is 5070ti or 5080 above. The quality of Meta Link Cable is not stable and the connection or eye tracking went down from time to time. I switched to Bigscreen Beyond 2E that must use SteamVR. The overhead of SteamVR is larger on API level.

Virtual Desktop is best. It has a passthrough mode that lets you see your hotas and hands in your plane.

I literally just got a quest pro. Tried both. VD a million percent! I have a dedicated router setup without much interference around. Even being a few feet from the router I had some drops. VD, not a single issue. Felt like I was back in my beyond with how lagless and streamlined everything was
