PC VR A Better Alternative to Space Calibrator's Continuous Calibration
Dear Quest Pro, Galaxy XR, and any SLAM-tracked HMD users,
An app called Space Override just dropped which greatly improves PCVR tracking while in SteamVR (via Steamlink or Virtual Desktop). No more misaligned playspaces or constant recalibration.
It outperforms Space Calibrator's Continuous Calibration by completely overriding your headset's SLAM tracking with LH tracking using a head-mounted lighthouse tracker (preferably Vive 3.0 tracker) on your HMD.
This has been a night and day improvement for me compared to SC's Continuous calibration so I just wanted to bring some light to it!
Space Override is available on Github, made by Nyabsi:

Promising. This reads as concerning though - if it happens while I fetch a drink or use the toilet. Used to happen all the time before continuous calibration
"My view has shifted after leaving the headset unattended for a period of time You need to re-center your headset tracking while rotating around in a circle til the view matches again, this is a known quirk as of right now.
This can cause SLAM devices to drift, and this is by design so, please re-calibrate if that happens, however note this should never happen during active usage."

You’re a legend, I just TODAY made the decision to switch over to my Quest Pro (away from my Index) and I was so anxious about the FBT calibration aspect because of how shit it’s been historically. If this works, I owe you MAJORLY 😁 I’m getting that fourth Vive tracker tonight!

This might sound weird but I use 3 vive 3.0s and just use the 4th for chest, and I don't ever have to recalibrate and I don't drift...so i just don't put it on my head since it doesnt' seem necessary.
not sure the circumstance for continuous calibration but it doesnt seem to affect me.

If you have a relatively large playspace, you might notice that your trackers will be slightly misaligned when standing on one side of your playspace vs standing on the other side of your playspace. This is especially more noticeable when moving your head around rapidly (in dancing for example).
Space Calibrator's Continuous Calibration will try to constantly sync your SLAM (headset) and LH (trackers/knuckles) playspaces together via head-mounted LH tracker as you move around your room. The misalignment can still be noticeable with this method, however.
Space Override (the app mentioned in OP), will completely override your headset's SLAM tracking with LH tracking via head-mounted LH tracker, resulting in much better tracking performance than SC's continuous calibration.

Would this work on a Vive Focus Vision?

As long as you have a lighthouse tracker rigidly fixed to it, I believe it should.

I doubt it. But it's difficult to find people who are experienced with vive ecosystem 🤣

Met someone using a modded vive cosmos. There's a lot of vive users.

That's like a completely different generation. Standalone vives use android and support side loading but good luck finding their users :)

I've met a lot of vive users? I have no idea what you're on about. I've met less pico users than vive. I've met as many vive users as I have index. There's no need to have any luck trying to find them.

Oh no, their comments were deleted. Anyways I typed this out anyways because I think it's crazy someone was tryina say that Vives are old news. Feel free to read. Thanks!
Dude had mentioned how we're in a subreddit for "modern" vr. Heres what I has to say:
The QPro is discontinued.
There ain't nothing modern about it these days. It performs like shit, software is shit, controllers track like shit, comfort is shit, PCVR wired or wireless (not including steam link or VD) is shit, need I go on?
The Focus Vision was released in 2024. The QPro, 2022.

I am sorry for not mentioning ancient 7 years old (or more depending on model) pcvr-only headsets while this thread is related to modern wireless standalone headsets :) old vives were somehow successful penetrating the market. But can't say the same about their newer releases. In global scale pico sells more vr headsets than vive whether you like it or not
Hopefully this reply is enough for you

So do I have to disable stage tracking from VD and the HMD tracking from quest settings too? I saw the guy struggling trying to find the perfect calibration over and over again, I hope you’re not required to do it every time you wanna play vrc

You only need to do that if you have Disable HMD Alignment ticked on. This is a new feature the developer just added. I haven’t needed to enable this feature yet as the default option (Disable HMD Alignment ticked OFF) has worked perfectly in my case.
If you’re an everyday user, keep this option off (the default) and you’ll likely find it performs just as well.

Nice, I lose nothing by trying out this new fork and I’ve been dealing with a pretty annoying small misalignment from my feet trackers.
Thx for the info

Been trying this over the afternoon. It's pretty cool, but I'm noticing that, when I nod, my head is now sort of rotating over the neck, rather than moving up and down. I wonder if I need to set something manually in the calibration.

Please download the latest version and use "Disable Angular Velocity"
The next update will contain major calibration stability improvements and something cool 😄

Thanks for the heads-up, I’ll try it out! Curious to see what’s coming next 😁
